t0lkman
My Edge's standard tires are 20", but I noticed the car comes with 18" spare tire. Won't it kill the AWD system in case I need to drive 50 mile on the spare tire with different size?
akirby
Measure the circumference - it’s the same as the regular tires. Wheel size doesn’t matter - tire diameter/circumference does.
t0lkman
So they put different spare tire to different trims?
omar302
Yes. The Spare has a different tire that is for temporary use only and max speed of 50 mph (if I remember correctly). AWD will probably disconnect when using the spare & you should revert to the original wheel/tire as soon as possible. It is mentioned in the Owenr's manual, though not in a clear section. It is under the information messages, All Wheel Drive.
omar302
So they put different spare tire to different trims? As far as I know, the same spare is for all trims, but in the parts list there seems to be a steel & aluminum spare wheel. I don't know on what basis which is included in any trim, that is if they are even supplied differently as it could be a parts list thing and/or market dependant. My 16 Sport has the steel spare.
