so_edgy_bro
Hi all, I sold a fully-functional MFT apim+screen combo after I successfully installed the Sync 3 equipment, and the guy who bought it is saying the GPS is not catching any signal at all. Similar to the Sync 3 apims, is there some kind of antenna that needs to be bought and installed? Just want to make sure I help my buyer out as much as possible. Thanks all! enigma-2
If it's not already installed, needs a GPS module (located above radio) and antenna (top of car at hack).

so_edgy_bro
the buyer has a 2011 explorer- he wants to return the unit i sold him saying that its incompatible. it just needs programming right? should i sent a return? the unit worked perfect when i pulled it from my vehicle
candurin
It will need programming. Theres actually a specific setting for the GPS (IP, roof, off and one other setting) in the APIM configuration. APIM should be compatible with no issues. Who did the forscan?
so_edgy_bro
attached is the unit he replaced with the one I sold to him. So he should only need aim programming yeah? the unit has not been modified with forscan, as I pulled it cleanly from my edge.

candurin
Your buyer needs to provide more details. Can he see the compass direction? Where is he seeing no satellites? Is he in diagnostic menu? But yes, he only needs to program to his explorer. Very easy to do as he can download the asbuilt file (.ab) from ford directly and just upload it to the APIM with forscan. If your buyer was expecting just a plug n play, then they misunderstood. ANY replacement APIM (even from the dealer) requires reprogramming.
