Wetdream
Greetings. Back up camera doesnt work after shifting into reverse. Camera unavailable message appears. Got back from body shop after major accident, camera hasnt worked since (long fight with them but no they wont fix it)... they scanned and gave me a code that was related to a fault in the back up camera system but it was kinda generic (document lost in last 6 months). Need pointed in direction of diagnostics for this... Back up sensor beeps are still working. Paid for 1 year Chiltons manual access but the wire colors in there dont match what Chiltons says for the camera... I pulled it all apart and was trying my best to do my own testing with a power probe and multi meter but just no headway.. Thanks!
onyxbfly
I would suggest talking to the insurance company that paid the bill. If that doesn't make any headway then talk to your insurance company. It might not be to late to have the issue addressed if you have any paperwork that indicates that you mentioned it to them. All is not lost if you do not have a paper trail, your call log should suffice. After all I'm sure you tried to call several times to have this issue resolved. Why else would you call a body shop numerous times after you picked your car up Clearly as you can see (no pun intended) the error message you received indicates that the camera does not work. I doubt that it is a wiring issue especially after you checked the connections etc. Here is where things get interesting..... Some of the cameras on ebay / aftermarket cameras have been reported that the display is upside down. The rear camera for the edge is pricey (I believe its in the $250-$300 area give or take a few bucks.) but it is compatible with other models and ultimately cheaper if you can find the corresponding camera. Once you install the camera you will need to have the guidelines reprogramed./ recalibrated Not sure if it can be done via forscan or if it requires a trip to the dealership. Good Luck! Edit: Here is a link to a forum post that you may find helpful... They even discuss the price and a vendor is linked that has the camera available for $50 bucks! http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/23650-backup-camera-replacements-that-work-please-post/ Edited July 3, 2018 by onyxbfly
