What are dealerships charging for APIM replacements these days?

Recommended Posts

Don't mind too much having a dealership replace it. It's the only thing we have ever had to do to this 2012 Limited Edge. Garage kept, still hve original tires, 56,000 miles, 6/32 left. Just wondering what they are charging? Generally have the Lincoln dealership service the car.....but imagine Lincoln dealership parts cost more than "Ford" parts. Thought I might shop around to local Ford dealerships.

If your certain that the Accessory Protocol Interface Module is at fault, I'd talk to your dealer first. There's an extended warranty on your year's Edge.

I bought the vehicle new in January of 2012. Soon after got a letter saying warranty on APIM was extended to 5 years (VS 3) until January 2017. That time has passed.

Are you saying warranty is further extended on this part?

After reading the Ford coverage again, I see that it was extended to five years from initial service date. So I imagine it did end in 2017.

Even though you still have to pay, there is still one good point it makes. And that is to make certain you are running the latest update. As it's not currently working, I would imagine the dealer will need to do it. The Ford letter required the dealers to check the software (latest or reload) prior to going further.

It has the latest update that came with the A4 chip. Has all the updates I've been notified about. From Ford Owners site, and syncmyride.com, etc. Car has been registered from day one. I have a new A9 chip....but haven't installed that. Assumed no soft ware update needed for that.
