Texas001
I have just over 25,000 miles on my Edge and have really been disappointed with the gas mileage. Then I found the real reason. My gas mileage was computed at 21.7 on a recent trip but when I manually computed the gas mileage it was 24.9. Now I am not disappointed any longer. Am I the only one who relied on and believed the computed gas mileage?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Are you resetting the mpg and trip meter every time you fuel up? That is usually the reason why there is a discrepancy. Sometimes the pump will click off way too early and you'll think you filled up completely, but still have gallons to go.

Am I the only one who relied on and believed the computed gas mileage? I reset the trip meter every time I filled up and manually calculated the mileage/consumption and finding that the computer mileage was quite accurate, I no longer manually calculate it. My Sport has 26,500 miles on the clock and during winter I was getting 21~22 mpg, now that summer is here I'm getting 23~24 mpg - I was expecting it to be more economical in winter when the AC compressor isn't running.
lildisco
If you're looking at what it says under fuel economy, then it averages every tank since the car came off the assembly line. I typically reset trip 1 every fill up & don't touch trip 2 to get an average. Also, as i recently found out during a trip to South Carolina & back to Ohio, it helps to reset the ECU when the season changes. I couldn't get much over 26mpg. Reset the the ecu & my mpg went up to around 29. I'm now getting around 27-28mpg to where i was getting maybe 24-25. The temps have been around 70-80 for the last month or so & the my average mpg's has also gone up. Assuming that your from Texas, so you don't usually get summer & winter mix. You can also try to increase your psi in your tires 3-4psi might also help your mileage (assuming that you don't exceed your tires max psi). I should also mention that I have a 2016 2.0 Ecoboost FWD. I was thinking that had to be a 2.0. The best I got is 25.4 in my 3.5.
