boots
Im thinking of installing an OEM Ford hitch (FT4Z-19D520-AA) on my 2016 Edge Titanium. I realize I will have to cut the fascia to fit the hitch - Ive been told there is an outline on the backside of the fascia indicating where to cut (hope this is true!). The thing is, I dont know anything about the liftgate foot sensor. I assume it runs along the inside of this fascia somewhere - maybe at the bottom lip. I need to know if I have to make ANY modifications to the liftgate foot sensor in order to install the hitch? Does it have to be moved or split into two (that would be difficult) or does is it simply routed above or below the hitch? Any info or tips about installing the OEM hitch on a 2016 Edge would be greatly appreciated.
akirby
Pretty sure there is a different sensor to go with the OEM hitch. If you go aftermarket with a draw tite or hidden hitch that sits below the bumper you don’t have to worry about the sensor - it works fine.
mr_jason
I installed the oem hitch on my 16 sport. Had to cut the bumper cover where hitch sticks out and replace the foot sensors with the 'split' ones from a titanium w/ hitch. Looks great, like it came from the factory with a hitch and the lift gate works. Edited December 4, 2018 by mr_jason
jesquivel
Hi Guys, I have the same project for my Ford Edge Sport. As you can imagine the bumper comes a bit different from the Titanium. Anyone having an experience installing the OEM part (FT4Z-19D520-AA)?

Hey Boots, Did you install the hitch and was there an outline for cutting the fascia as you hoped? I'm still in the pondering stage between OEM and one of the aftermarket hitches. I'm leaning toward factory for looks but I'm a little leery of taking the Dremel to a perfectly good bumper cover. Cheers!
