Tc4arch
Just bought a 2014 edge SEL that has the convex spot mirror in the corners of the outside mirrors. Having blind spot problems on both sides of vehicle. Just missed having an accident. I am considering replacing the glass without the convex corners. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions? Thanks
omar302
I have heard of the opposite, people wanting to install a mirror with the convex spot mirror. If you really don't want them, I think you might have 2 options: 1) Install the OEM mirror glass for one with BLIS system as it does not have the convex portion, but it does have a small dot that illuminates in vehicles with BLIS from the factory, but the dot will not of course work in your Edge. 2) Install aftermarket glass for BLIS that would be glued on the stock mirror glass plastic back.
TheWizard
Another option might be to readjust your mirrors. It is quite common for people to adjust the mirror much too far inward so that they see the side of their vehicle. This doesn't cover the blind spots. With a properly adjusted mirrors, you should have to lean toward the side of the car to see the side of the vehicle in the mirror. In other words, the mirror should be adjusted outward enough that the side of the vehicle is out of range while in your normal seating position. The idea is to have a seamless transition between the coverage of your inside mirror and the two outside mirrors. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/how-to-adjust-your-mirrors-to-avoid-blind-spots

enigma-2
I went from standard mirrors to the ones with the convex inserts. It takes a little learning to use them. Adjusting them properly is critical (see TheWizzard's post above). When adjusted properly, if you see ANY PART of a car in the convex, he's in your blind spot (and close). I would never want to go back.
Further North
Our 2016 with BLIS does not have the convex inserts in the outside corners...and I miss them. I learned how to set my mirrors when I was racing and the habit of setting them so that the slimmest part of the inside edge of the door mirrors just barely overlaps the outside edges of the center inside mirror persists to this day...but I really liked those little inserts because they gave juuuuust that little bit extra... omar302
Fords with BLIS don't come with the convex inserts, as far what I have seen. But it seems that we also got a difference here as my Edge also has the driver side convex mirror, like the passenger side (with BLIS).

It seems common sense that all one would need do is change the glass (it's what I did on mine, but I don't have bliss). Anyway, something to mull over. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F231958405669
