radudel
Hello!Ford Edge Titanium 2016 AT 2.0 diesel bi-turbo engine:Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) indication on the dashboard is very wrong. Indicates -40C or any other very low temperature indication, considering that there are about -1C. Also when warmer, the difference is significant. This wrong indication alters the a/c, considering that it dictates the functioning regime. Also the engine auto-off is not working, because the cars "knows" that the ambient temperature is -40C !!! Went to dealer three times and still not found the problem. Replaced the sensor and still the same crazy indication. If someone has/had the same problem please let me know, including the solution .Thanks!
enigma-2
Pulled this from a different forum where they reported same condition after change. Quote: Ambient Air Temperature Sensor The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor contains a thermistor. The sensor varies its resistance with the temperature. As the temperature rises, the resistance falls. As the temperature falls, the resistance rises. The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is an input to the PCM through separate input and return circuits. If the outside air temperature is below approximately 0°C (32°F), the PCM does not allow the A/C clutch to engage. After replacing an Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor, the sensor data must be reset by either driving the vehicle at speeds consistently about 20 MPH for at least 5 minutes to update the filtered data or perform the multiple button press reset procedure to update to the current raw value. On the HVAC panel controls, press the A/C and Recirc buttons simultaneously, then release both. Within 2 seconds press the A/C button again.
radudel
Hello! Thanks for the tip. I took the second option because the first has been already done. And it seems that it works. I will continue to monitor it. But it is still a question: how come only a few tech's know this tip? Thanks anyways. I will let them know how it has been fixed. Maybe they will start to follow this kind of forums that are very useful. Thanks enigma-2 !!!
radudel
I'm back! I made all those resets. Somehow works... In the morning it shows random temperature like -21C or -15C. After I start moving and drive for about 4-5 min, starts to change the temperature indication, showing alternatively like +/- 2C around the real temperature. After a while stops changing, stabilizes. If I stop somewhere, like for some shoppings, in a parking lot, when I start the engine and start moving the temperature starts again somewhere very cold and than is adjusting while driving. Is this a normal behavior? It seems to be a very odd behavior and I am not convinced about the reliability of the information. Also this fluctuation affects the A/C and the auto-off. Is there anything that can be done in order to have e normal and constant temperature indication. I have never seen this kind of behavior at any other cars and I drove a few...Thanks!
