enigma-2
Probably the radiator cooling fans turning off and on as coolant temperature rises.

akirby
is your wife in the car ? That would be a whining noise, especially when accelerating hard. “You’re wasting gas!!!” “I don’t care!!!”

enigma-2
On mine, the cooling fans cycle on and off when idling (and going slow, like in traffic when insufficient air flow through radiator). Seat fans (at least on mine) stay on steady when turned on. They don't cycle on and off). Is you seat cooling on when this occurs?
Tacyon
ok .. just checking cuz as Akirby pointed out, that is also a whining noise which at times can sound similar to what you described. Took me almost two years to figure out where that noise was coming from. Located it, got rid of it and installed "wife v 2.0". WAY better now. Instead of whining when I step on the gas, I hear, "is that all she's got??, Faster, Faster!"

My buddy's favorite joke is "Why is divorce so expensive?" Because it's worth it!
akirby
Mine won't even watch the video of me driving a Ferrari or Porsche around a racetrack at moderate (for those cars on a racetrack) speeds with an instructor. She literally thinks that if you go fast in a car it will either explode or fly off the road for no reason. I tried to tell her it was safer driving 100+ mph on a racetrack in those conditions than it was to be in her suv on the highway at 75 mph. She could not comprehend that even after I explained all the other drivers, bad roads, construction, head on collisions, concrete barriers you can hit, etc. etc. The lack of simple logic is maddening.
Tacyon
Think the coined acronym born from the phrase - Cannot Understand Normal Thinking is fairly accurate. Fortunately for me, a major upgrade was all it took to fix.+ we need to steer this thread back on course speaking of driving, noises, and tracks. akirby
I’m not touching that one........
enigma-2
Was driving and heard the same noise you originally posted. It is the seat fan, on heat, cycling from low to high and back to low again. I thought mine was just on low when on heat but it definitely was ramping up to high and back to low.
