PrinzII
Is it normal for these vehicles to exhibit a wheel bearing noise toward the right rear? I had a friend with a 1st Gen that has a very loud noise. Now, mine is starting to make the same noise. What I am learning is that the fronts have regular bearings but the rears would require replacing the entire hub assembly. Could someone give me some clarity on this? PrinzII
I am looking at either of these: http://www.autoanything.com/wheel-bearings-hubs-seals/timken-wheel-bearingor Centric
enigma-2
I have an 09, and no noise or problems. About 115k. My guess it's miles related. How many miles does your car?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
I do not see separate part numbers for the hub and bearing, so looks like the rears are indeed serviced as assemblies. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2011,edge,3.5l+v6,1446671,brake+&+wheel+hub,wheel+bearing+&+hub+assembly,1636 SKF, Timken or OEM highly preferred. No idea on the Centric product, but that 90 day warranty is not awe-inspiring LOL.

macbwt
The first gen 2007 through about 2009 but mostly 07 and 08 are hungry for wheel bearings. Ford has since figured out the issue and my 1.5 has been very gentle on wheel bearings so far. Only had to replace the rears since one went out. I am still using the fronts at 230,000 miles so far no issues.
PrinzII
Why do you think the first gens eat them like that?
macbwt
Why do you think the first gens eat them like that? I have no real idea, but I do see the components are a bit beefier than the 1st gen. I think IMO Ford made slight changes.
PrinzII
Update: I am going to go for replacing all 4 bearings at the same time. The rationale for this is my disdain for having to deal with the domino effect. I'd rather make sure that all are working fine versus replacing one and then another weeks or months later. I already spoke with the dealer and they want $675 (Labor) for all 4 to be replaced. The parts are going to be somewhere around $400 from AutoAnything.
