ituhata
How difficult would it be to swap out the lower bumper and exhaust tips to make a regular SEL Edge look like a Sport on the backside? While I am at it, how difficult would these parts be to acquire if its possible? I didn't seem to have much luck finding any.
Nick Halstead
If you find the whole bumper, its as easy as unbolting one and bolting the other up. Ebay will be your friend for the bumper. Unless you buy new from fordparts website, but that will get expensive fast
Tightanium
The sport bumper is painted also, isn’t it? More expense paying for paint.
ituhata
Really all I want is those shaped exhaust tips and a bumper molded to conform to them. Since my SEL has black plastic trim all around it would look a little weird to suddenly transition to a painted bumper, but I seem to remember while the sport bumper is painted, the actual insert where the plastic conforms to the exhaust tips is black....and I just looked it up and I am correct. https://i.imgur.com/J0s16GW.png So I'm really just looking for the black insert piece and the chrome tips. I saw some online that were aftermarket without the chrome tips that didn't look bad, althouth it made the back of the edge look weird, a little tall like a Transit Connect van. I don't think it would look ok…because the width of the side black plastic pieces is wider than the one on the "sport" model's rear bumper… One solution to that would be to remove your pieces from your doors and have them painted the body color…Bingo! ituhata
Oh, I was out checking my mail today and on the way back I was looking at my car and it dawned on me what you were talking about.
Tightanium
To me it looks like you would need 2 pieces of the sport bumper then the tips. Sort of looks like the exhaust tips are farther apart. Maybe the angle of pic. Hate to have to change the exhaust too.
ituhata
Yeah, it sounds like alot of work. I'm not too worried about it now though. I finally got a chance to test drive a sport today, there's no way I'm not getting one now. :
