Vglnte1
Just had the windshould replaced on my 2016 edge sport and had some questions. They told us the car needed to be adjusted due to the new windshield for the camera and vehicle awareness. They said nothing about wipers. When we turn the car on, the wipers go off, but pretty crazy. In fact one broke completely off by turning on. Anyone explain or know the issue? Thank you. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Do you know if you got OEM, exact replacement glass? They probably had to take off the wiper arms also, may not have reinstalled correctly?
omar302
They told us the car needed to be adjusted due to the new windshield for the camera and vehicle awareness. What kind of vehicle awareness? I am not an expert, but this doesn't sound right. The camera(s?) is mounted on the windshield but shouldn't be affected by changing it. It's not like a new pair glasses that needs adjustment to. Makes me question whether they know what they're are doing.
davidceder
I had mine replaced with an OEM on my 2016 Sport. Never adjusted anything and all seems just fine. Not saying you shouldn't adjust stuff but we didn't.
candurin
I keep coming back to this thread and laughing about vehicle awareness. I too have a fear of sentient vehicles (damn terminator movies). Is their any type of air bubble, obstruction or anything else on or in the glass that the sensor might mistake as rain?
omar302
There is actually a transparent sticky pad that is used to mount the rain sensor to the windshield. When removing the sensor it would probably get damaged & should be replaced. But, is you wiper acting up only when it is on the auto position? If it is acting up when the switch is off, then it has nothing to do with the rain sensor. This is what I mean with the pad: https://m.ebay.com/itm/201293056943
Vglnte1
Just so everyone is aware, there is a relearn or adjustment process for the wipers. It took them just a couple minutes. Works like new again. Also, how do you turn on and off the rain sensing wipers?
