Brucifer
Gack. Having a hard time looking at brake kits. Might as well do all four, city street for the most part, drive like an old man. Would like slotted (not drilled), but not a deal breaker. Better than stock - best bang for the buck. Need 4 tires soon, so I need to watch the expense. Thanks. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Autozone Duralast Gold high carbon rotors and their Max (?) pads are a great durable combo. Many people are using kits off of Amazon and eBay and say they like 'em. But never having used any of these, it's up to you to try them out. Main thing is, if you want to use ceramic pads, get high carbon rotors. If you decide on semi-metallics, most any rotor on the market today will do. Better pads will always provide great ROI. https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/brake-rotor/duralast-gold-brake-rotor/539223_195255_2708 https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/brake-rotor/duralast-gold-brake-rotor/539225_195255_2708 https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/brake-pads/duralast-max-brake-pads/61533_116848_16108 https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/brake-pads/duralast-max-brake-pads/61539_116848_16108 http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2007,edge,3.5l+v6,1434490,brake+&+wheel+hub,rotor+&+brake+pad+kit,13824 Edited January 14, 2018 by WWWPerfA_ZN0W
chefduane
+1 on this ^. I put AutoAnything 4 wheel kits on my '11 LTD. Pads, rotors, etc, and associated hardware for $241 last Feb. These were the OEM replacement brakes, no performance stuff. You might check them out.
Brucifer
Thanks for the suggestions. The Duralast set would be about $400, but if I do it online and ship to my door, I get 20% off, or about $80 in AutoZone WackyBucks. Going to have to think about this for a bit. Brakes aren't terrible, but with all the other 'new' stuff that was on it when I bought it, they can't be far behind.
macbwt
If you go with the duralast it may very well be the last set of brakes you install on that Edge.

Brucifer
Tree-fiddy with tax coming to my door. PLUS $40 AZ-WackyBucks when I fill out the rebate. Have to check my BBQ paint supply. I like to give the calipers a nice coat when I change rotors. How much more improved stopping power do I get with red calipers?
chefduane
Uh oh. Red calipers are a sign your brakes might be bleeding.

Brucifer
Got everything the other day. Rotors are big, heavy disks of blackness. Do they stay that way after use or do they go to silver?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Protective coating on hub should stay, on the rotor face will wear off shortly with use.

The hats on my rotors are slowly starting to rust, but I have 130K miles on them.
Brucifer
The hats on my rotors are slowly starting to rust, but I have 130K miles on them. Thanks mac. I got new tires yesterday and they said that the brakes looked good, so I'll just set these away until needed. Will probably paint the hats when the time comes.
