Rear tire wear on the inside

Hi all. I have a 2013 edge limited. The rear tires are wearing on the inside of the tread pattern. They are rotated every 3500 miles. This problem has only arisen in the last 4-5 weeks. I live in Wisconsin and the roads are bumpy. Does this sound like an alignment issue? If so, what would something like this cost? Would it normally be some simple adjustments for a shop or are there lots of parts that could need to be replaced? I'm layed off so money is a huge issue right now til march.

Yes it sounds like an alignment problem assuming the wear is continuous and not cupped which would indicate a bad shock.

 

You can probably find a coupon for a local alignment shop or just wait and replace the tires later.

The passenger rear is cupped a bit.

alignment down here is $90-150

 

toe may be out of spec so an alignment may be in order, but like akirby said, cupping tends to be shock related.

 

if they replace the shock, generally they recommend an alignment as well. could go either way on that one.

IF your rear shocks are worn then may as well prepare for new front struts. You will appreciate the new ride.
