GT500R
Apparently this guy in Albuquerque NM is making intercoolers for the Fusion Sport and asked if he can replicate one for the Edge Sport... need someone to be on site in order to fit it.\ http://www.fusionsportforums.com/forum/225-fusion-v6-sport-performance/12297-front-mount-intercooler.html http://www.autoperformancealbuquerque.com/ Who is near Albuquerque NM to offer their car for a fitting? Thanks!
dustys318
I reached out to them and recently heard back. He said he was able to get one fitted and asked if I wanted to buy it for $850 shipped. It was too late, I already bought an intercooler for the BMW 335i (6x20x6) and in the middle of modifying the mounting points and the map (welding the mount). I also reached out to PumaSpeed in UK hoping they are willing to put the X-37 or X-47 wheel our frame turbo (I have found only one, used turbo in ebay in hopes they reply saying they are willing to do the job). I'm shooting for 500awhp (pump-gas). Next is to use my magnehelic gauge to find low pressure areas on the hood to mount heat extractor(s)...

WWWPerfA_ZN0W
450 awhp is the current advisable limit on the 1st gen 3.5 EB. Remains to be seen, engine-wise, what the DD limit is on the 2.7EB. But the trans, as Nick said, is still the 6F55 ... Expect torque converter and possibly clutch work if you go beyond the daily driver limits. Also, LME advises topping off the fluid just a tad beyond FULL (1/2 quart IIRC), to assist in high speed maneuvering & cavitation issues. Might want to look into that as well. Nick Halstead
SHO uses same transmission and they have guys pushing past that amount but I don't follow SHO builds that closely. The only 3.5EB I know any details on was the Flex and the owner said the Transmission was holding him back. He put the car back to stock and went and got a CTSV
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Guess what I meant to say is I dont know if they beefed up the 6f55 for the Edge. For the SHO, it requires rigorous maintenance to keep the drivetrain humming at the 400+ awhp power levels. The engine isnt the issue nearly as much as the drivetrain, agreed. But you will see the failures I have mentioned as the miles tack on.

Going to need more then a compressor wheel upgrade for 500 awhp. I am sure there are plenty of US turbo shops who can add a larger compressor wheel / clip turbine for our turbos. NoDTMF
Kinda funny...I have been a "normally aspirated engine" lifer. I'm a Ford guy, wife's BMW. So I always made sure the Beemer was normally aspirated. Fast forward to today; 335i and Edge Sport...both turbo, both direct injected...heavily on the learning curve. My basic goal, kept silent until now, is to have my tuned edge beat her untuned beemer off the line to 60! Anyway, currently thinking about ordering the walnut shell rig for cleaning the beemer valves. Too early for me to worry about the Edge. I would like to hear more about catch can success. Odd that one would even imagine the "grocery getter" sparring with, well, anything other than Chevy :-)
