EASY30
I have a 2008 Ford Edge SEL with 120,000 miles on it. The PCM is fried due to bad ignition coils. This is going to cost about $1,500 to repair. Should I get it fixed or try to trade it in? We have been looking at trading it in for a newer vehicle. Brucifer
If you can do a spark plug change, you can get a coil kit here: https://www.google.com/search?q=BA5Z-12259-A&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Check with your local dealer to see what price they might have and save on shipping, but you should be able to get a set of coils, plugs and gaskets for about $150. As long as you have the intake off, don't forget to replace the PCV. How to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg7rmtKZ360&t=510s As for the PCM: https://circuitboardmedics.com/2007-2010-ford-edge-pcm-ecm-repair/ They will cost you $300 for a repair ($125 for testing, but if you know it's fried, no need for that) and roughly $60 for next-day-air shipping round trip. Keep in mind that it will be out of your hand for roughly four days : Ship To, Receive & Repair, Ship Back Following Day, You Receive It. Plenty of time to replace the coils. Wrap the unit in bubble wrap, then place and fill in a Large FedEx box for shipping. Total cost of around $550 (high side)+ your time.
