Charecter1
Hey guys, I recently purchased a 2008 ford edge sel and absolutely love this car (which is saying a lot because I've only ever owned lifted trucks). Anyways, I'm having a problem with the blower motor. It works fine some days and blows like normal on all settings but I'll shut the car off sometimes and when I start it again, it doesn't blow air anymore. The compressor still kicks on but no air comes out of the vents on any settings. It's weird though because I can open the cabin air filter compartment and get to the blower motor and move it by hand for a second and it works fine again for a couple of days. I'm not sure if the blower motor is going out or the resistor is. Has anyone else had this problemm
enigma-2
My guess would be the blower motor as it will run after being manually started. If it was a blower resistor, it would not work on the lower speeds but ok on high. Faulty resistor usually are not intermittent, but blower motors are. Charecter1
I figured it was the blower motor too but I wanted a second opinion and I was hoping it wasn't because they're are pricey and normally hard to replace
enigma-2
Seriously, I would go with the Motorcraft blower. But its nothing to replace, perhaps 15 minutes, depending on how fast you drink beer. Ok, enough of the hilarity, here's a "weak" video on how to change, drop a cover, pull the glove box and drop the motor/fan assy by removing three screws. On a scale of 1 to a six pack - 1 beer. (Of course your wife and kids don't need to know that, could get you out of a honeydo list if you.play it right). PS, shop around, I just picked a couple of examples at random. You might be able to get a better buy on Ebay. (But if you do go aftermarket, I would stick to what's avaliable on Amazon). Brucifer
I just checked in my garage and I have '07 blower motor. It works, but if I remember right, it was a little bit squeaky. Ran fine otherwise. It's yours if you want it. Use it as a stopgap until you get a MotorCraft one.
Charecter1
Thank you enigma, I was going to use rock auto because they are usually the cheapest. And brucifier, that would be awesome if you're willing to do that
