DustyDiamond
Hello from Bucks County, PA. I found the forum while researching a recently failed transmission on our 2008 Ford Edge SEL AWD with 65,000 miles. The EXPENSIVE replacement of the transmission and PTU is not going well (gear slamming & fluid leaks) and I'm attempting to gather as much information as I can before I return it to the transmission shop. I've seen some threads that might be helpful, but any suggestions would certainly be appreciated. Cheers...
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Sorry to hear! I bet tho that the fluids have never been changed and that us the root cause of the issues. How is the health of the transmission fluid? If good, the problem may lie in sensors and solenoids instead of the transmission itself. A bad MAF sensor can cause similar symtoms. Have you checked to see if there are codes in the PCM? That is where I would start. Are the fluid keaks from the PTU? Common fir the seal on either side to leak. The ptu fluid can leak out thru the vent sometimes.

It's going back to the transmission shop next week and I'll find out about the PCM codes. Wish I knew then what I know now...
