riggerdood
Hi all, New member here. I bought my 2012 Edge about a year ago, and love it! 6 cyl. Towed my 22' sailboat from FL to CA last summer, no issues at all. The one thing bothering me though is that intermittently, the system doesn't recognize the music files on the SD card. Sometimes it does, but most times it displays a "No Device Detected." message. It's a Lexar 16 GB SDHC 300x 45 MB/s card, and the files are divided up into directories on it. When it does work, it allows me to browse normally, and will play all the files just fine. Any suggestions? Thanks, - Tim
enigma-2
Whoa, I didn't know that you could divide the files into directories!!! You try a different SD card to eliminate the possibility of a bad card?
riggerdood
Thanks for the quick reply enigma-2! I found that having about 1800 songs divided up into directories (mostly alphabetically by genre) was a much easier way to browse them. I have an identical SD card on the boat, and it plays fine on that sound system, but won't play in the Edge. And the one in the Edge plays just fine on the boat. Another quirky thing the Touch system does is it tends to "reset" itself occasionally. For instance, our daughter likes purple, so I set the ambient lighting to purple, but after awhile it reverts itself back to the light blue, so I change it to purple again. I'm tempted to do a full system reset, which I probably should have done when I bought the Edge, but I'm afraid I might lose my Sync and Sirius settings, so I'm hoping that would be a last resort ... ? PaulSchott
If your sure your SD card is good, you could try some canned air in the slot.

Thanks Paul, hadn't thought of that, will give it a try. But akirby, I'll try to keep the instant water out of there ... <grin>

enigma-2
Hehe - canned air. Reminds me of instant water. "Instant water"? Isn't that the stuff you mix with powered water and sunshine?
riggerdood
I have some instant water but I can't figure out what to add to it. Um, air? OK, so seriously, I saw a post in another search that suggested re-formatting the card in exFAT, so I did that (have the files backed up elsewhere), and it seems to have done the trick! At least for the time being - we'll see if it acts up again. Thanks again for the replies, - Tim
