chefduane
Anyone experiencing problems over at blueovalforums.com? Every time I try to access the site it crashes my browser (IE 11). Anyone have this same issue or is it just me? Thanks! Chef Duane
akirby
Why on Earth would anyone use IE?

chefduane
So I switched to FireFox and now I can't get past the sign in screen. I did a password reset and still it keeps kicking me back to 'sign in'. I'm beginning to think they just don't like me over there anymore. Sent message to the admin. Status pending.
akirby
Sorry, this is just too good to pass up an opportunity to post it again.
akirby
If you don't hear anything soon let me know and I'll ping the site owner to reset it. Unfortunately us lowly moderators don't have permission to do that.
chefduane
LOL! Great graphic! Yeah, I have not yet been on to BOV this morn so the prob may have cleared. I don't post as much over there but there is some good info to be had. EDIT: I just checked and still the same issue. I would not want to cause any site disruption just because of me re; site reset. If he does it, great. It most likely would clear my problem, but I can surely wait until he's doing some site maintenance or whatever before he does a site-wide reset. enigma-2
Why on Earth would anyone use IE? What else would anyone use with Winows XP?
chefduane
After many machinations I have determined that Blue Oval simply does not like me. Still the same issues. I guess they will simply have to forge on with out my deeply thoughtful and insightful musings, along with my oft-times boisterous merriment and/or restrained funniments. akirby
Tell me the issue again and let me see what I can do.
chefduane
I first started noticing that for some reason BOF began to crash IE11. Does not happen at other sites, only BOFs. I get the "Internet Explorer has stopped working" dialog box and when I close and then try to recover the site I get the same thing. I switched to FireFox and it doesn't crash the site, I simply cannot log in. I created a new account with PW and when I attempt to sign in it just does not accept the sign in and keeps looping me back to the sign in page. I have checked everything that I can at my end and as I mentioned, this only happens at BOV. I am the only one who uses this machine so no permissions or 'parental controls' etc have been set. Just a weird phenomenon. I appreciate anything you can do but again, if I can't get back on BOFs its not that big a deal. The Edge group is the one that I find most interesting, helpful, and fun. Thanks! Duane
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Do you have adblocker running? Is Flash turned off? I have seen IE have issues with both things on different sites. Plus it is a memory hog.
enigma-2
Update your Java to the most current.
chefduane
OK, so I verified that I am on the latest version Java AND I uninstalled all the previous versions. I checked to see if Flash was enabled and it was. I have no specific adblocker running although do run MS Security Essentials and Defender. I periodically run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware and so far I've had no malware or system hijacks. Also I run CCleaner periodically just to keep the clutter down. I also just ran the MS updates to make sure I am up to date with Win 7. I run Win 7 SP1 64bit. So for the update.. BOF still does not like FireFox. I am running 54.0.1 which I think is the latest version. HOWEVER, BOF now seems to like IE11 again! I am able to get logged on no problem just as before. No 'IE stopped working' dialog box. So I am back to normal with IE11. Don't know what it was or what I did to rectify the error but all seems ok now. Thanks for all the input on what to check, etc.. Whatever y'all had me run through seemed to fix the issue! Probably ghosts in the machine. Thanks! Duane
enigma-2
I've found in the past that old versions of Java left problems in the system. Best to remove all old versions as they tell us.
