Gortty-Pilot
For anyone else who has done or has knowledge, can you confirm what other APIMs are compatible with the 2nd Gen Edges? Mine is a 2011, and I can find a 2015 F-150 module with Navigation. If I modify the AsBuilt Data in Forscan to match my Edge will it work? Or are the newer modules not compatible with the 2011 Edges? candurin
Why do you need to swap? You can use forscan to simply turn on navigation with your existing apim.
Gortty-Pilot
I already have navigation. My APIM Bluetooth has been failing over the oast few months -random disconnects and failure to connect. Today the entertainment portion of the screen was blacked out for about a minute before it started up.
candurin
Ah. Got it. Yes, as long as you have the as built data and forscan, you can use any 2011-2014 apim
Gortty-Pilot
What about a 2015 from an F-150 Lariat. I know ill have to remove some features but it should work as long as it is the MFT version? Edited June 26, 2017 by Gortty-Pilot
candurin
As long as it is a sync 2 MFT APIM, you're good.
Gortty-Pilot
Awesome! Thanks Candurin. I'll update on my results sometime in the next week
Gortty-Pilot
Well I received and installed an APIM from a 2016 Fusion Limited. I was able to change all of the APIM values to match my Edge and successfully installed it. I did have to recalibrate the screen touch after installation. Initally, my screen touches were registering upside down - I had to touch the bottom right of my screen to select the phone section of MFT. Doing the recalibration from the APIM diagnostics menu solved that easily enough. Unfortunately, replacing the APIM did not solve my Bluetooth issues. I am still getting random disconnects/reconnects on a daily basis, which means it must be my iPhone SE (which I've already reset several times). I mentioned all of this to my wife, to which she then told me that her iPhone 6 never disconnected from Bluetooth when she drove the Edge . At this point, I've already done everything I can to both the phone and both APIMs, so I guess I'm stuck with the Bluetooth issues for the time being So, now I have an extra Fusion screen and APIM with enabled navigation to sell. . akirby
Have you tried reloading the phone software? Do a full backup, reload the OS then restore the apps and data. Or just get a new phone.
candurin
Wait, you purchased a 2016 APIM? Was it sync 3 or sync 2?
Gortty-Pilot
It was a Sync 2 with MFT. I am considering trying to upgrade to Sync 3 in the future though.
sman83
My iPhone 7 Plus likes to randomly disconnect while on Bluetooth phone calls but will hold a connection for hours streaming music over Bluetooth. I think it's more of a iPhone issue than a MFT.
Gortty-Pilot
That's very similar to what my phone does! If Im streaming anything or using the phone then the connection is fine. But if im listening to the radio, I'll notice either the phone or media connection disconnect and reconnect on its own. Not a big deal, but I usually keep my phone on silent from work and then I'll notice I have a few missed calls and messages because the phone failed to reconnect. I guess its just a quirk of my phone.

Maybe this will get resolved with the next iOS release. Edited July 9, 2017 by Gortty-Pilot
