All Hat No Cattle
Well, after 7 months of waiting, my wife's 2017 Edge Titanium finally arrived. She loves it, and it arrived with no discernible problems or flaws that neither my wife or I could find. After bringing it home and checking the fluids, wheel torque, tires, etc, the only gig was 40 psi in all 4 tires. Yes, I used a very accurate gauge, and set to 35 psi the TPMS matches the gauge within 1 psi. Now my First World problem. I have 3 Genie garage door openers, fairly new, and have programmed Homelink with various vehicles, no problem. Same thing on the Edge, I followed the manual instructions for rolling code openers, and programed all 3 doors. But, the next day I took my 2016 F-150 Platinum out, it is parked next to the Edge, and my garage door would not close. I had programmed the truck over a year ago. WTF. Got my hand remote out and the door closed. Did my errands, and the door would not open. Used the hand remote to get in. So, reprogrammed the truck so all 3 doors worked, wife went out the next day, and my bay opener would not work again. Went to the extreme of parking the Edge 200' away and around the corner, and reprogrammed the truck so all 3 doors work. Parked the truck behind the Edge outside, bought the Edge in, and all 3 doors worked. Brought the truck in, closed the door, no problem. Closed the Edge door, and called it a day. Next day, the truck Homelink was inop on 2 doors. , the Edge works fine, all 3 doors. I finally realized that the Edge Homelink was killing the programming on the truck!!! So, right now the Homelink support number in the manual is useless. You get an automated recording on how to program your Homelink, but no CS agent is available. So far, 2 e-mails to Homelink on their support site have gone unanswered. I called my dealer last week to see if this is a known problem, talked to a service adviser that I know, and they are looking into it. Looks like I will have to escalate it through Ford, another PITA. Oh, well. So now I'm ordering the 2017 Shop Manual that I wrote about in another post, so I can see what is going on with the Homelink system.

akirby
That would be a problem with the opener, not the vehicles. It probably has too many codes programmed so when you add a new one it replaces the last one. Try resetting the opener memory, then reprogram all active remotes using only one button in each vehicle for each opener. You may need to delete one of the manual remotes to allow all vehicles and keypads, etc. to coexist.
All Hat No Cattle
That would be a problem with the opener, not the vehicles. It probably has too many codes programmed so when you add a new one it replaces the last one. Excellent suggestion. So I called Genie Customer Service to see if that might be a problem. What stumps me is that I removed a Cadillac with a 3 button visor, and replaced it with an Edge with a 3 button visor. No extra device. See what I mean? I did not program the Edge until the Caddy was gone. Even though all 3 openers were well out of warranty, 5+ years old, their CS guy spent about 10 minutes on the phone explaining how their Rolling Codes worked, and how they were limited in how many devices can be programmed to each opener. Made perfect sense, so I cleared out the 3 openers, proven by none of the handheld remotes working. Programmed the truck, no problem. All 3 doors worked. Programmed 2 remotes, no problem. Tried to program the Edge, and none of the doors would program. Not one. Used the exact same procedure as last week, but this time it would not work. WTF, again. So, I'm going to wait for my Shop Manual to show up, read up on what parts Homelink actually has, and make a service appointment. I get a rental from day one with ESP, so let them have at it. As for Homelink Customer Service? It is non-existent. As stated in Post 1, I e-mailed them twice because they have no phone based people to talk to. Never got an e-mail reply of any kind, until today. A survey asking how well they did. No joke!!! Here is the e-mail. We recently closed your incident regarding your request for support. Case Number: 20170606-171436 Product: 2017, Ford Escape Issue: How do I program HomeLink to a garage door opener? Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we are always looking for ways to get better. If you can spare a couple minutes, please help us out by filling out a quick survey to let us know how we did. Thank you for the opportunity to continue to earn your trust and business. Sincerely, The Chamberlain Technical Support Team 6020 South Country Club Road Tucson, AZ 85706 And here is what I originally sent them, please read the 2nd sentence. I have had Homelink on my 2016 Ford F150 for a year, with no problems. Last week I bought a 2017 Ford Edge, and I programmed my 3 garage doors with no problem. But, the door 1 & 3 buttons stopped working on my F150. I reprogrammed those 2 buttons on my F150, and all three doors worked. But then, door 3 stopped working on my Edge.????? So I thought about it over the weekend, and yesterday I did this. I pulled the Edge out of the garage, and parked it about 200' away from, and around, the corner of my house. I then programmed the F150 so all 3 doors worked. I pulled the truck out to where the Edge was parked, and then reprogrammed door 3 so that all 3 doors worked on the Edge. Today, doors 1 and 3 on the F150 do not work, while all 3 doors work on the Edge. There appears to be some conflict between the 2 Homelink systems. It seems that the Edge is clearing the Homelink buttons on the F150. The vehicle that the Edge replaced was a 2007 Cadillac SRX with the GM version of Homelink, and over the 10 years I had it I programmed an Expedition, and a 2010 F150 with no conflict at all. Any ideas? So, only Genie door openers for me, no Chamberlain ever again. And time to take a feedback survey,
Waldo
Ford is not going to be able to help you with this. All they do is buy the parts from Homelink. Here is the full extent of what the shop manual says: The universal transmitter learns a hand-held transmitter radio frequency code and stores the code in memory. It consists of 3 buttons with an indicator lamp. Once the universal transmitter code is stored, the universal transmitter emits the radio frequency of the hand-held transmitter when the corresponding button is pressed. The universal transmitter can store 3 unique transmitter codes at a time. The universal transmitter and LH vanity mirror lamp are part of the LH sun visor and share the same power and ground circuits. akirby
Are you using the learn button on the opener when you program homelink? If you are then you might be wiping out the other codes accidentally. Once you learn the handheld OEM remotes you shouldn't need to learn any new ones. You just program homelink to copy the OEM remote. Edited June 15, 2017 by akirby
All Hat No Cattle
Once you learn the handheld OEM remotes you shouldn't need to learn any new ones. You just program homelink to copy the OEM remote. Exactly. But now, using the first procedure in the manual (handheld remote) does not work, and using the second procedure in the manual (learn button) does not work either, on the Edge. Just tried it with 2 different doors again, today. But I re-programmed the truck, after I wiped the memory from the Genie, and it works fine. Previous to this I programmed my 2010 Lariat and my 2007 SRX with Genie, and of course the 2016 truck, and never had a problem. Looking at the 2016 Shop Manual for the truck, it seems that everything for Homelink is in the drivers visor. I suspect a visor replacement will solve the problem. Just like that lady in another thread that had a "ghost" in her windshield wiper, after a bunch of troubleshooting by the dealer and Ford, ( a week) it just boiled down to a bad wiper motor. Electronics can do weird things. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22545-windshield-wipers-are-possessed/
