macbwt
This is part one of a two part video on the cutting and then dissection of two water pumps. One pump is from a 2007-2010 Ford Edge and the other is from a 2011-2014 Ford Edge. Both are slightly different but yet have the same issue inside. Part two will show what happened to both of them..
enigma-2
Is it me or is this another "Who Shot JR"? A can of beer, half a bag of pretzels and no Part 2. Part 2, Part 2, hurry, I can't stand the suspense. Heh. Man, I could clean my driveway in 4 seconds with a power sprayer like that. Wash the paint off your car or cut it in half. Just think of all the fun stuff you could do ..

macbwt
Mac's newest video kinda makes me wanna sell my Edge. :( There is hope (change the coolant) but do not worry I am about to pass 200,000 on my second Edge with the 3.5 and no water pump failures.
chefduane
Mac, thanks for posting these. I am a big proponent of understanding why things work the way they work and that's especially true when it comes to our automobiles. I've met so many people that are totally clueless as to how an internal combustion engine works. And then they get mad at Ford (chevy, dodge..etc) when the engine dies after they never did any required maintenance on it. You can take much better care of a machine if you know how the thing works!! I have no doubt that I got 213k out of my '98 Explorer because of good maintenance, and I'm sure my '11 Limited will have a long life due to proper maintenance, and that sure seems to be the case with your cars! Thanks again! PERSONAL NOTE: Today is our 24th wedding anniversary! (My wife is standing over my shoulder as I post this and I'll get big suck-up points if I mention it!!)
PaulSchott
We investigated using water jet cutting for leather. really good for patterns but very expensive 10 years ago when we were interested. The company found a cheaper solution, they sent the factory to China. !@#$% China Really great video mac. We use magnetic seals in our ultrasonic applications. when they leak the ethylene glycol gets into the bearings and eats them up. Some of our guys in the field use J.B. Weld in the weep holes to stop the leak. It makes it harder to rebuild and they might get another 1/2 mile out of the sensor. Once the bearings are contaminated it's all over in a very short time.

enigma-2
I'm curious, are you hypothysizing or do you know for certain that the seal fails do to not changing the coolant? Actually it makes sense, inasmuch as my serice dept urged me to change my coolant to a different type, before it was do to be changed. Said that the original type did not protect again corrosion (think that's what they said) and the new stuff was now what was needed. This was 2-3 years ago and all I remember wad it was a different color. Perhaps that has something to do with this? Great video and clear explanation, Mac. Keep up the great work, I'm certain I speak for evertone here that these videos are very much appreciated. I know I learn alot by watching. chefduane
PerfA. Thanks!! And also thanks to Mac for his vids. Always great to get input as to the what, how, why, of maintenance and mods. And in video form - easier for me to learn by watching than by a manual.

I would love to have a 3.5, 6F50 and PTU in my garage for ready reference. Junk yards tend to believe they own gold.
