Silver Fox
My 2010 Edge got the driver side mirror smacked by a passing car, the mirror didn't break but 2 of the 4 plastic pins that fit into the motor snapped off. I went to the dealer and they told me that they don't sell just the plastic pins, I called Ford directly and was told the same and was referred to another company that deals in hard to find parts, they couldn't help either. Anyone ever run into this or have a solution? I really don't want to spend nearly $400 for a new assembly when it looks like the pins I need probably cost $0.05 to make. chefduane
Looks like your on your own with that one. Maybe check a few salvage yards although there are not many Edges in yards as yet. Post a pic so we can get a look at one.
enigma-2
Would this fix your problem? http://www.ebay.com/itm/271713556181 Edited June 5, 2017 by enigma-2
PaulSchott
I believe you're talking about the plastic clips attached to the mirror that hold it to the motor. If I am correct and it is the same as a 2007, you can probably just get the mirror replacement. If the glass isn't broken you can just use Tiger Seal or some other type of adhesive to just attach the mirror directly to the motor. It would be a real pain to remove it if it gets hit again or you need to replace the motor.
enigma-2
Sorry, I may have misread your post. If it's the plastic tabs on the back of the mirror that were broke, it's an easy enough job to just put a new mirror glass on (comes with the plastic mount attached to the new glass). The 08 didn't have the blind spot inset so you can get a replacement glass with plastic mounting tabs for about $24. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Left-Heated-Door-Mirror-Glass-fits-2007-2008-Lincoln-MKX-Ford-Edge-Dorman-56120-/331573169174?fits=Year%3A2008%7CMake%3AFord%7CModel%3AEdge&hash=item4d334d0c16%3Ag%3AhYAAAOSw7GRZMsIo&_trkparms=pageci%253A600ca1fd-4ac6-11e7-9d47-74dbd180b9ed%257Cparentrq%253A7ddb74e315c0ab4d298f3c97ffff7b11%257Ciid%253A3 Edited June 6, 2017 by enigma-
Silver Fox
Thanks, based upon your picture, I'm wondering if the part that is still attached to my mirror is part of the motor assembly and the pins I was referring to is actually the internals of the assembly
Silver Fox
Turns out that the pins I was looking for was actually part of the internals of the motor, I guess the person who hit the mirror, hit is so hard that it broke the motor housing off, that part was still attached to the mirror. Once I got a new motor, everything worked find. Didn't break the mirror though.....go figure. Thanks everyone for your help/suggestions
