ash042679
Good Evening All, I have a 2008 Ford Edge , Dual Climate Control ... Here's my issue - I am able to change temperature up and down, works flawlessly ... The problem is that the air is stuck flowing thru the front vents and floor, it will not change. I have tried to set onto the windshield it won't work , tried to set to just the floor and it still blows thru the front vents and floor, its essentially stuck in that position. I originally thought it may have been the control unit , ran up to the car yard and grabbed another unit, installed and same issues . I am somewhat perplexed. As mentioned, I can adjust the temp settings , but the flow of air is stuck... any thoughts? possibly the actuators? any insight would be greatly appreciated. akirby
Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset everything?
ash042679
I did actually ; didn't have any luck ... should I leave it disconnected for a while so everything resets?
ash042679
One more thing I noticed , both on the control unit that was in the car and the second one I put it , once I hit the front defroster button , the small light on the control unit turned on, and no matter what other button I would hit , that windshield defroster light stayed on ... Maybe I should try to leave the battery disconnected for a while
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
First, check for codes, as outlined in the attached document. That may provide direction. Pinpoint Test J is I believe what you will be working with. Also verify that the coolant, with engine off & "cold", is at the COLD FULL mark or slightly above. Verify the A/C refrigerant pressures also, the system may be low or have a leak. All kinds of weird behavior can happen when either of these two items are in question. 2008 Edge HVAC Module — Dual Automatic Temperature Control _DATC_ — Diagnostic Methods.pdf
ash042679
Thanks I will review ; ran a diagnostic wit my OBD 2 tool not showing any error codes ; I will review the document.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Does your OBD tool scan the MSCAN bus? All of them scan the HSCAN bus AFAIK. The climate control is on the MSCAN bus from what I remember.
ash042679
I was using the OBDLink MX , didn't show any codes. Haven't tinkered with it just yet, but just noticed it won't switch to any other settings. Whether I want floor only, or whatever other setting it is just stuck on the combination of floor and main vents ... Frustrating , considering the temp controls work .... More worried in the winter when I need the windshield defrosted than I am now
ash042679
any chance it could be the actuators? looks like there may be a few of them in the system
enigma-2
Why don't you try running the HVAC module in the diagnostic mode and see if it spits out any DCT's. Press the OFF button and DEFROST buttons simultaneously, then release and press the AUTO button within two seconds. You should see flashing bars and then the DTC codes will appear. On mine (just did thes to make certain that I had the right combo) I am seeing 88 88 as the codes (no codes displayed,my system is working perfectly. 88 88 is end code). Afterwards, press the DEFROST button to put the system back into opetation. It sounds to me as if the HVAC Control Module is at fault. (Did you check all fuses related to the HVAC system)? ash042679
I will run that test. I will also review the fuses. I will try to find a diagram online for the fuses relates to the hvac. not sure where I placed the manual for the edge. thanks in advance
ash042679
enigma - 2 I ran the test you mentioned. looks like I have an error code A2 6E those were the results. anywhere I can find what these codes mean?

enigma-2
Can't identify the code. The service manual I have is for 09 &10 and all of the codes start with "B" (nothing starts with "A"). Perhaps someone else can chime in who has a service manual for the 08.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Possibly a faulty display, and it is B226E, or a MODE BLEND DOOR MOTOR STALL error. Pinpoint test J.
ash042679
thanks so much. I will start with the blend door motor located by the glove box , it seems easily accessible. I believe there are few more other than this one, but hopefully this is the one. is there also one on the drivers side ? will keep everyone updated
Shagee2000
Our Edge is allowing the a/c to flow only through the defrost and floor...no ac through the dash vents. Sort of opposite of your problem. I'm thinking blend door....but sometimes it randomly decides to work.
