atekido
I did some searching and couldn't find specifics on what turbos are being used in conjunction with the 2.7. was just curious on the brand/size. Also is it even possible to put in larger turbos or is that not an option? I had read the 2.7 has a little different setup with how the turbos are bolted in vs most setups. I plan to get a 2015 Edge sport Tomorrow and im just thinking about what things i may modify if its possible.
omar302
Tune it. Going more than a tune and I believe you risk seriously damaging the drivetrain, mainly the transmission & PTU. As some members already did, a tune will add a lot to the 2.7L.
atekido
Yea I plan on getting it tuned. just was curious about the actual products that make up the turbo setup. this is probably a dumb question.. what does PTU stand for? ive only ever driven rwd muscle cars and can't recall seeing those 3 letters haha. omar302
Power Transfer Unit, or I read sometimes it's called a Power Take-off (PTO). Basically, it's like a differential between the transmission & rear diff. It is bolted behind the transmission, then sends power to the rear via the drive shaft.
atekido
Ohh ok i guess I havent ever referred to it as that so it had me thinking it was something spefific to AWD lol. thanks for the info.
Nick Halstead
turbos are really small garret, f150 uses borg warner. not much room to work with to install a bigger turbo. If the edge your getting is fwd, you wont have any ptu issues.
omar302
The PTU/PTO is only on AWD (vehicles that are based on FWD). So yes, your Sport will have it since it is an AWD,if I recall correctly, 2016+ Sport comes only in AWD. Only 2015 models came in FWD or AWD.
Denny Gaughan
could this be it? https://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/turbochargers/gt2871r Ā Here's an image of it http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM-Ford-Turbocharger-Assembly-BC3Z-6K682-B-/301962213584 Edited May 13, 2017 by Denny Gaughan
Beezz
If i recall correctly the rear turbo is visible from underneath the car and there is a product code on it. Here's the ford part numbers, maybe they'll help. http://www.discountfordpartsfromsoundford.net/FPSS-2016-Edge-Sport-Turbocharger-Components-s/422827.htm

Ray Heath Jr
Just for clarity it is a PTU, Not PTO. A PTO is something used to divert engine power to auxiliary devices, like pump, generators, buckets, on larger vehicles. F250's and above are typically capable of this, not sure if the newest 250's are or you have to go to a 450 to get the function.
