TowerMonkey
2014 Ford Edge 3.5l with 28k on it. What would cause this oil leak and is it something I can fix easily or possibly covered under warranty? WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Looks like the seal for the exhaust (?) VCT solenoid on bank 2 is leaking. Dunno if that is covered under warranty, how many miles do you have on your 14 and what kind of warranty? Ā Have you cleaned it up before and checked to see this is not simply from an oil change? Yes, some shops are that sloppy.
macbwt
Unless it is a leak the repair at this point is not worth the money or effort. Just clean occasionally keep on motoring.
TowerMonkey
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll try and get a better picture here later today. At the moment she is sitting at 28k miles. The oil isn't coming from the filler neck. Hopefully it's just a sloppy shop. I'll get it cleaned up and monitor it for a couple weeks before I start to worry I guess.
Liptoss
Initially I noted the exhaust only leaking, then both intake and exhaust on my '13 SEL eventually began puking oil. It is covered under warranty. Yes, vehicles can be run with oil leaks, but IMHO, oil should remain in the engine. If you have extended warranty, at this point. Get Ford to fix it.
Liptoss
For fixed the oil leak on both VCT exhaust and intake front cylinder yesterday. The engine is "nice and clean" It required the removal of the cam/valve cover. Probably an easy job for the front canted bank of cylinders. The back would be to I'm guessing with a little more parts being pulled off.
