Maintenance fees

Not usually. There is very little maintenance actually required - probably $50/yr for fluid and filter changes plus a few bucks for wiper blades, etc. Maybe $200 for a transmission fluid swap but that's about all that is really required. Most of the cost ends up being "inspections". So at least understand what you're actually paying for above and beyond the minimum required. Also if you do it yourself you can decide when and where to have the maintenance done.

Tks akirby!

After reading some of the post with especially the PTU issue on AWD, it kind of made me nervous. Of course I like the ride. It has been a very long time since I bought an americain vehicule. It seems that ford has improve when it comes to long term reliability and this is why I made my decision to buy the Ford Edge and also I have asked many individuals who own the Edge and they truly love it!

Both extended warranty and maintenance package can be purchased online from Ford dealers that offer them at much reduced prices. I recently purchased extended warranty from a Minnesota Ford dealer at $50-$100 over dealer cost for my 2016 Sport. Almost 1/2 less than my local dealer or Ford Corporate sales. Minnesota dealer also offered maintenance package at reduced prices, which I declined. They make their money in sales volume as opposed to fewer high margin sales. I have no business interest in this dealer, but at the time found their pricing to be the best.

Roadlinerbiker, the Edge is built in Canada so don't have any fear that you are buying an "American car."

I inherited my 2012 Edge and my dad had purchased a maintenance program that covered 60,000 miles. The only major services provided were for oil changes, 3 air filter and 3 cabin filter changes, and it covered a failed battery and a set of new wipers. I normally do my own maintenance and blowing 2 hours going and sitting at the dealer for a "quick lane oil change" was not worth it to me at all. I think the "quick oil change" is designed to be slow so you get so bored that you go check the new models....

Where did you get those prices? $94 for an oil change?

Just because it's assembled in Canada doesn't make it any less American. That's like saying the Toyota's built in the US are not Japanese. They are engineered and assembled according to the main manufacturer's specs, not the country they are being built in.

Tks Guys for your input.

I finally bought a SEL with almost all the options and the color is White Platinum. Since my wife was with me, I made her choose the color. Made her very happy. Actually she even convince the Director of sell to give me winter tires with it. What can I say. She's great!
