Eric Klinkhammer
2013 Edge SEL. Wife was at the hair salon and when she came out the key would not turn. I asked if it was in park...was told, "of course it is". (It was). Told her to turn the wheel a bit...no dice. Key fits in ignition fine but won't turn. Obviously the car wouldn't shift out of park. Overroad the shift lever and the key was still locked. Towed it to my mechanic who thinks it is the lock cylinder. I know this is a common problem with the Focus but can't find anything on the forums or Google about this issue with the Edge or MKZ. Anyone have this issue?Just bought it in October. 48000 miles. Shhlogan
As a locksmith, I would recommend having someone in my profession look at it. Does the key turn fine in the door? If so, try some wd in the ignition and wiggle the key up and down while using slight turning pressure. You may just need a new key, and not a new ignition. Depending on if any wafers have been bent inside the ignition cylinder.
