Chipster
Before I dig out the OM can someone tell me if it is possible to remove the rear wiper from the automatic mode it seems to be in? Here is what I mean; If you turn on the front wipers, the back wiper comes on too whether you want them or not. This morning I was driving in fog thick enough to need the front wipers on (intermediate setting) and the back wiper came on too. The back glass was dry and covered in dust and I hate for them to drag dry grit across the rear glass. Is there a menu that I can re-set to end this auto- rear wiper operation? Thanks, yeah I know, I should read the damn OM.
chefduane
I didn't even know there was a 'automatic mode.' My rear wiper operates completely independent of the front wipers and on a separate switch.
omar302
It might be a 2015+ thing. Though the owners manual doesn't show that. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?bookCode=O31263&languageCode=en&marketCode=US&viewTech=IE&chapterTitleSelected=G1675940&subTitleSelected=G1675947&topicHRef=G1448435&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=True
enigma-2
The owners manual for the 15+ state that if you are running the wipers and shift into reverse, the rear wipers will automatically turn on.

candurin
My 2012 does the same thing (I think)... can't recall off the top of my head.
chefduane
Interesting. Pg. 89 in my manual ('11 Limited AWD w/ 301a) under Driver Controls states: Ā "Reverse Wiper Feature - The rear wiper will be automatically activated in an intermittent setting when shifting into R (Reverse) if the front wipers are activated. The feature may be enabled/disabled through the Message Center. Refer to the Message Center in the Instrument Cluster chapter." Ā So I stand corrected by myself. heh. Don't know if I have it enabled or not.
Chipster
The owners manual for the 15+ state that if you are running the wipers and shift into reverse, the rear wipers will automatically turn on. Yeah I saw that after digging into my OM, but my issue happened without going into reverse while driving. I messed around with the system today and could not get it to replicate, but I tested it in the driveway without moving the vehicle.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
The reverse wiper feature seems to have been implemented in MY 2011.

chefduane
PerfA, I have noticed that you have been able to post when new options have been introduced on particular model years. Are you referring to a chart somewhere, or is all that info in your monster cavernous fact filled Einstein brain?? Please do tell.
