1.6 to 2.7

I had a Fiesta ST that I got a Livernois tuner for it. Ran great. Then got carried away. Got bigger turbo, DHM race intercooler and race bar, Cobb tuner with E30 tunes from +Tune (Adam), auxiliary fuel kit from Stratified and WRC type hood vents. Got to 303whp, lots of fun. So now I'm looking to do similar with my Edge Sport. I have the Livernois tuner with 93 aggressive tune running same E30 fuel because 91 crap fuel here. I'm hoping DHM makes an intercooler for our platform and Cobb joins in for tuning...

I'm using the E30 mix so I'd have at least a 94+ octane fuel for the 93 aggressive tune. Our CGI cylinders and central block tells me it should stand up to some near diesel boost pressures, wish I had the extra funds to test the theory on an extra motor. I know my Fiesta was at 28psi (w/3bar map) can't see why the 2.7 couldn't do 30-35. Looking for 500awhp and 11's...

Ok, so not tuned specifically for E30 then. Unleashed does tune for E-blends, also consider Brad (bradleyfredrickfischer@yahoo.com) who will tune for any & all blends. You are working the pump hard with E30, but it is manageable with a tune. 500AWHP is likely possible, but I have not seen it achieved without methanol injection on stock fuel pumps. If the 2.7 is as strong as the 3.5, it will go to about 600 AWHP before a custom build needs to be done to go further. What IATs are you seeing with the engine/trans warmed up? I hear the intercooler might be a bottleneck just like it is on the 3.5 ...

The block might be stronger, but what about the rotating assembly? What about the heads? Plus the use of small turbos also restricts the efficiency zone. You can put out extra boost, but it will not do much good as the turbos will work against themselves, and will shorten the life of the turbos.

Would def be nice to have an extra motor to play with :)

Yup, you put up good points. The entire block is not CGI as only the bottom end is. That said, I would be surprised if the 2.7 couldn't achieve the upper limits of what the tuned SHO's with a stock motor are doing. I would be more concerned with the drivetrain than anything else though. If he is not running a specific tune designed for E30, my biggest fear is that he could cause damage from running too lean.

The block deck, cylinder sleeves and the bolt mounts for the crank and caps are CGI, the lower "ladder" as Ford calls it is aluminum. Yes, those little turbos will be blowing hot air after 20+ or so psi but someone will be making some upgrades for it soon (hopefully like the 2554r or GT28s). What we need is an intercooler solution, Ford has seemed to make the minimum required for sustained driving but nothing for sustained "spirited" driving or for very hot climates (think: heat soak). Adam from Tune+ (adamtuned.myshopify.com) has the ecoboost platform down to crazy power levels, especially his E30 tunes. He uses the SCT X4 device for the 2.7. If you are in the Dallas, TX area look him up, he will be opening a new shop 1 April and will do a live tune for you...

Running the 93 aggressive tune on E30 is fine, the A/F in Ford's WOT table is too rich (for safety) anyways... it's why most tuners get better gas mileage after a tune
