kiteflyer45
Hi all . I am new here and just bought a 2016 Edge with 14k on it . Dealer is offering a 6 yr. 75k Premium warranty for $900 . Is that a good deal or should I shop around ? Thanks in advance , Chris
akirby
You should understand that it's 6 yrs and 75K from when you bought the vehicle, not after the original warranty expires. So since Ford already gives you a a 5/60K powertrain warranty you're only getting an extra 1 yr/15K of coverage. You would be getting an extra 3 yrs/39K coverage on most of the rest of the vehicle but the ESP doesn't cover quite as much as the original Bumper to Bumper warranty. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Best way to find out if the pricing is good is to shop online dealers offering ESP/FordProtect warranty. Such as floodfordesp.com, lombardfordwarrantys.com, zieglerfordesp.com. Then see if your dealership will match.
richzx14
I found the best price ESP at Anderson & Koch Ford http://andersonandkoch-ford-warranty.com/. About half the price of local dealers or Ford corporate ESP sales center. Very easy transaction all completed online. I have a friend who is a Ford Fleet Manager and he said the price was $50 over dealer cost. They make the profit up in the number of contracts they sell.
t0lkman
So you ended up buying from Anderson? P.S. thinking of buying now <12months.. or when couple of years..
richzx14
Yes, I purchased online but I did speak with the Business Manager before the purchase, very helpful and courteous. He also sells Extended Maintenance Plans at a discount if anyone is interested. No tax on the ESP but tax on the maintenance plan per Jeremy. I have purchased several extended warranty's online previously with no issues. I searched the various forums (like this one to obtain low margin dealer names). I did add the interior/exterior lighting extra cost option as Jeremy said the LEDs on the back of the Sport are pretty costly to replace - something like $1,800. The HID headlights are also costly to replace. FYI - price goes up after 12 months and 12k miles. Check out the dealer link in my previous post and you can price the various options without committing to purchase. kiteflyer45
Thanks for the info all . The dealer I purchased from is about $40 cheaper than all of the sites I checked on here . They are Crossroads Ford in Kernersville NC . I do appreciate the help and look forward to enjoying my new Edge and this forum !
