David Hier
Hi all, I test drove a car and it drove perfectly, but a mechanic inspected it and the battery was dying. After the dealer put in a new battery and I purchased the car, the car was experiencing some hard shifts. I found this relearn process for after installing a new battery for the F150 here, and it seemed to have solved the problem for me as well. I drove the car for about 10 miles and all is well now. Has anyone had experiences with this?
akirby
Perfectly normal, especially with the transmission. It keeps a table of shift pressures in memory and adjusts them as needed for optimal shifting. When you clear out the tables it has to relearn them so all you're doing with that procedure is speeding up the relearning process.
