omar302
Note that both front seats have an air filter that need to be changed or cleaned over time. They're round, about 4"in diameter and near the center of the seat. Twist on/off. The new "so called" filters are not actually filters anymore, just a screen. They even use the same part numbers. Posted about them some time ago. I believe in newer models they are now "lifetime".
dshamer
The person that started this topic had said his jeep ownership experience had been 'rock solid'. Is anyone willing to go out on a limb and say his future Ford EDGE purchase will be a rock solid experience? These vehicles in the past have been anything but rock solid. Certainly can't fore see the future, but Ford EDGE design has been anything but rock solid. In my opinion!
akirby
Nobody is saying Edges don't have problems. But so do Jeeps. Any vehicle can be rock solid or a lemon.

Certainly can't fore see the future, but Ford EDGE design has been anything but rock solid. In my opinion! I'm the OP to this thread and want to clear up any confusion as far as the quality of my 2014 Jeep. I would say my Jeep has had more than it's share of issues since I bought it, most but not all taken care of by repeated service trips. I will say however when it comes to rattles/squeaks and noise it has been pretty good other than one annoying popping sound from the rear spoiler when it sits in the hot sun which is now supposedly fixed but it's been wintertime and haven't had a hot sunny day to check. After my test drives of two different edge sports, in my Jeep I will say I didn't hear any of the odd noises going over the same roads. I like the Edge overall and it's still in consideration for my next vehicle. I would hope if I do choose an Egde that I don't have any rattles/creaks/groans for the first few years of ownership. The Motorcraft seat filter FS-104 has the filter element, the seat filter FS-106 has larger holes and no filter material. I ordered the 104 as that's what had been in my car as OEM.

FS-106 is new to me. When I ordered mine, I ordered FS-104 as per the owners manual & got the plastic covers & even the boxes they came in were FS-104.

(See ref above). It's possible (or more likely probable) that the filter with the cotter gauze is old stock and has been replaced with 106 (even if it's still on a 104 box). Personally, I would not recommend anyone need replace these filters. The gauze filter can be easily cleaned and the one with holes isn't even a filter, just a guard for the fan blade. Jonkarn
OP with the Jeep. I am cross shopping the Edge Sport with the Jeep Limited, and wondering if you ended up getting the Edge. What made you decide to look elsewhere for your next car? I like the Jeep, nice interior, rugged looks, comfortable ride, but I think it's a bit gimmicky and overpriced unless you get the base trims. The cargo space is actually pretty small for such a huge SUV, and it's super heavy, and unless you get the V8 Hemi for $3500, it's slow and struggles when you push it. I just like the idea of it and it's looks, so I was checking it out. Just curious about your feelings on this.
