Sarnano
Looking to add a hitch and harness to my 2015 SEL. Wiring Kit suggestions? Lot's of options on Amazon. Feedback indicates some harness kits leave the connector inside the hatch? Good/Bad? For the Hitch Reciver itself I'll go with Drawtite 75234. akirby
I used the hidden hitch from etrailer on our MKX - it looks better to me than the other two, same price basically. I think I used the Curt harness plus a cheap metal bracket to hold the connector - no issues, easy install. Just make sure you create a solid ground connection. I tried to use an existing screw without scraping paint and I had to redo it. I tapped into the rear accessory port wiring behind the cargo panel on the driver's side (if you have that on the edge). Works fine.
Redbow
I bought a "last years model" Prodigy off Ebay for $38.00. Use a Curt hitch and harness. Works beautifully, electronic controller is the only way to go set it once and forget it. Burke
Sarnano
Was the the foot activated lift-gate opener affected by the installation of this hitch reciever?
akirby
No. Mine works on either side of the hitch with no problems.
factor99
I got a wiring harness with the T connectors. I had to squeeze the connectors through the weather grommet and widen it for the extra wires I would just get bare wires next time and tap them in, it would actually be a cleaner install since I wouldn't have to damage the grommets. There are grommetted holes in the hatch area floor; you can put the the connector through one of those to keep it on the outside. It is more convenient on the outside but then it is subject to the weather and road grime.
akirby
The curt wiring harness I used stayed within the bumper on the outside. Only the power wire had to go inside the vehicle behind the taillight.
