Jazzing up the Edge

Recommended Posts

As you all have probably seen in a multitude of threads here, I am working on jazzing up the Edge (not that it really needs any help). The look I am trying to achieve is a classy, yet sporty look. Additionally, I am doing some upgrades to the audio system and the lighting.

I have already completed part of stage I which is the hi/lo HID installation. This is a list of the subsequent stages and the modifications therein.

Stage I - Lighting and minor upgrades

- 6000k HID High and Low Beam

- Weathertech Floor Liner and Cargo Liner

- Curt Trailer Hitch (Planning for Bike rack)

- Bumper Protector

- 75% tint on Windshield

- Light Taillight Tint

- Paint or Powdercoat Stock Grille Black

Stage II - Performance

- Evolution Performance Tune

- H&R Rear Sway Bar

- H&R lowering springs (No more than 1")

Stage III - Audio & Interior

- Eclipse AVN-6620 Head Unit w/ Navigation

- Eclipse CH-3083 CD Changer

- Eclipse Sirius Module

- Eclipse Backup Camera

- Eclipse iPod Control Module

- Parrot Bluetooth spliced to Sync Bluetooth Rear View Mirror

- Tru Technology S44 Amp

- Dynaudio Esotec 244 6.5" Components (Front Doors)

- Morel Tempo 6x8 Coaxials (Rear Doors)

- Sherwood Honey Oak Wood Dash Kit

Stage IV - Wheels & Tires

- 20 x 9 Asanti AF 128 (Chrome Lip, Black Face) (Alternate choices: & Swiss SW-2, MHT Vendetta, KMC Dime)

- Pirelli Scorpion Zero Tires

Periodically, I will post updates to the mods as they go along.

Don't forget to upgrade the brake pads, SS lines, and/or slotted&vented rotors, extra power on the stock brakes isn't really that good of a thing for the EDGE.

- Powerslot Rotors

- Upgraded Brake Pads

Why upgrade to Stainless Steel Lines?

Given that I am in AZ and it gets hotter than hell itself, I need to find a way to keep things cool. The 75% tint I am looking at has a very high UV and heat rejection plus, you can't really tell there is a tint on the windshield because it's so light.

Post a link of the tint. I would probably be interested in this.

Thanks

I took it to the tint shop Saturday and got the windshield tinted. I do notice a drastic improvement in cooling the car off without compromising visibility. It's light enough that it won't draw any attention.

One thing about the film is that it's thicker than your ordinary film and it will take a longer time to set. The estimated time was 2 weeks. However, I drove it yesterday and today without seeing any bubbles.

Now, I have to concentrate on tinting the rear windows and making the windows surrounding the hatch darker.

New mod: Foglights w/PIAA Crystal Ion

I have sourced and priced the parts through http://www.teamfordparts.com/partlocator/i...m?siteid=214270 and it will run $229.22 for the parts. Now, who can tell me if I am pre-wired or not?

Hello PrinzII

Are these stock foglights that you are installing. In your foglight parts, did you find the chrome backplate?

Just asking because mine didn't come with foglights and I want to install them. Please post some photos when your done.

Yes, I am planning to install factory fogs. The price includes the chrome backplate.

Nice gear, would skip the changer .. a bit obsolete considering the digital source from the iPod.

I went with the

The sub enclose is a tiny 1.8 cubic foot box, ideal for those subs, with its greatest depth around 5" - those are shallow mount subs which saves cargo space. The Kenwood unit is the current standard in topshelf Double Din DVD / Touch Screen, Navigation, bluetooth, iPod and fits like a glove .. of course it does not take voice commands but it does have the sound.

Give this stuff a look before you make your final choices ..

Hi, I was thinking of upgrading my Edge brakes just based on some of the reviews. Have you upgradd your brakes? Why powerslot rotors? How much does it cost and where did you get them? Life is good, Bob

a) Upgrading to cross drilled rotors would be more problematic.

B) I haven't started that phase (yet)
