sel edge
Ok ive been searching and found that they dont recomend cables or chains on the 20" wheels due to clearance between the tire and strut but what if i install a 5mm spacer to gain some clearance. Has anyone tried this? I wanna go up to the snow this weekend but its kind of sad that a small suv cant go with cables vs a honda civic with cables can go no problem. enigma-2
Wonder if Zip Grips ( https://www.bulbhead.com/zip-grip-go-tire-traction-aid.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&scid=scplp8204481&sc_intid=14-00709&gclid=Cj0KEQiA4o3DBRCJsZqh8vWqt_8BEiQA2Fw0eST957efpIGGS5_gXZv1LtiNlS30FeFjrSBvp4xWE-gaAspf8P8HAQf) or Tire Socks would work? sman83
I'm going through this right now. Just purchased these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HZFDQE/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484931948&sr=sr-1&keywords=Security+Chain+Company+SZ441 for my 2013 Ford Edge Sport AWD with the 22's. I did a test fit yesterday and they went on in under 10 min and fit well. The clearance looks good as well. I am heading up to Tahoe tomorrow and its forecasted 2+ feet of snow. I just checked the CalTrans website and the recommend that AWD put the chains on the rear tires.
O.C. DEREK
How did they work? I have a 2014 with 20" wheels. Wanting to see if they would work.
sman83
Just got back from my trip yesterday. It snowed 39" overnight and had no choice but to use the chains/cables. They worked great. I rode on them to the resort to the house to the store and back with out issue up to 30mph like the instructions said. On the snow there was zero vibration with the cables on the cleared rode there was a ton of vibration but that was expected. My tires never spun, I had the cables on the front for clearance issues and I checked for rubbing on any parts and didn't see a thing. Took the cables off after a couple days and drove the two hours home no problem.
