I was just hoping to find a set of moulded ones that made the front kinda look like the rear. I've looked everywhere and so far no luck. I have the Ford ones on the front of mine, and they look nice. I didn't install them like the instructions tell you to though. I actually cut a square out of the bottom inside corners of the flaps so that they would clear the inner fender brace that sticks out on the bottom. I brushed some "White Out" on the 2 factory bolts on the inner fender. One holds on the bottom ground effects on, and the other holds in the inner fender itself. I placed the flaps up where I wanted them, had a small box on the bottom to hold them square, and they left 2 white out marks on the flap itself. I drilled the flap where the 2 marks were. I removed the 2 factory inner fender screws, that I put white out on, and bolted them on. I didn't have to drill any holes in the car itself, as I just used the 2 factory installed bolts to hold the flap itself on. They also stick out a little farther on top, and down a little lower to help protect the car better. ACLazer Posted July 12, 2008 Report Share Posted July 12, 2008 (edited) I finally got around to taking some pictures of my Ford Edge Flaps today. I also kept finding road crud on my rear bumper and tailgate. I found it was coming from the rear tires and being thrown up. I added the same Flaps to the rear as the ones I added in the front. The front flaps had to be notched out to clear a spot on the inner fender, but the exsisting inner fender bolts were used to mount them with. I also used the same exsisting 3 inner fender bolts to mount the ones on the rear. I've had NO CRUD on my rear bumper and tailgate since I added the rear ones to the car. I just put some White Out on the bolts and held them in place where I wanted them mounted, and then drilled the flaps where the White Out left marks on the flaps. My front ones are mounted down and out further to help protect the body even more. I understand why you did it, it just does not work for my taste. good photos though for sure. BTW, I originally notched a big chunk out of mine. not only that, I pretty much used my own desired screw hole and used black RTV silicon to finish off a clean inner edge so no water could go between them and the actual fender well. looks great. The rear tires stick out way farther then what the factory rear flaps can protect, and they're also not low enough to do the job. I actually thought they blended in really well on the rear too. BUT, the Crap here in NE Ohio can get really bad, especially in the Winter months. My 08 Edge is my daily driver too. I have way too many toys in storage and I can't add my Edge to the list too. I'm even thinking of getting a set of used wheels and tires, just to run in the Winter. My wheels have already been replaced once, after just one winter. By coincidence, I discovered that the same GM slash guards that I have on my Buick Century have the right notching and contours to fit the Edge, so I ordered and installed a pair, and, I believe they look quite nice and unobtrusive. The GM part number is 12497418, at least that's the number here in Canada. They are made for the front wheel well of the Century. They can be installed very easily by using the two existing screws on the Edge fender; you need only hold them against the screw head, give them a tap with a hammer, leaving an imprint that can be used to drill the two holes; remove the two existing crews and use them to install the spash guards. I tried the Ford ones, recommended for the Edge but found them too big, and unsightly...no integration at all; so, for half the price, I have a nicely integrated set of GM splashguards that fit very nicely.
