rldechant
Hey all! Began noticing this problem this past summer in the warmer weather, and now that winter is here I'm worried about all that salt and brine getting into the inner workings of my car. Has anyone had this happen to their Edge before or know of a fix? I'm not sure if this is a DIY repair and the handle can pry off so I can re-seat or replace this gasket, or if I have to take off the panel from inside to access it. Like I said, worried about water and salt and stuff getting into the inner workings, plus it just looks like junk! Any thoughts or help would be appreciated! rldechant
hmm...apparently I've stumped the forum on this one!
pedro2u
looks to me like that would need to come off to replace that gasket. And I'm guessing that would mean removing the liftgate panel. I dug these files out of my manual for the 2011 Limited. Should be similar I'd presume Ford Edge Liftgate Latch Removal.pdf Ford Edge Liftgate Panel Removal.pdf

doji_nj
Have the same issue the past 3 years. It happened during my detailing and the orbiter vibration must have started dislodging the gasket. After seeing this post, just took a plastic joint knife and pushed the gasket back in place. Problem solved. Edited February 26, 2017 by doji_nj
