Blastvalve
Evening everyone, long time lurker but 1st time poster. I've tried a few different searches but can't find anyone with this issue. 2016 Ford Edge Titanium running Sync 3. iPhone 6 running iOS 10.1.1. My problem is this. I've got an iPhone with about 8000 songs in it. I connect via a USB cord. In the past, using voice commands and/or selecting songs via the sync system worked VERY well. (Great for when one of the kids says "play song xxxxx daddy". A few weeks ago, I had to do some cleaning on my phone and essentially re-download my library from my PC. Ever since then, if I tell the sync system to play a song using voice commands or select one via the browse functions, it doesn't always play the song. For example if I asked it to play "waltzing Matilda", it might play something close to it but not the right song. Whatever song it chooses, it will consistently choose that song going forward. If I use browse and manually select the song via sync, (waltzing Matilda" again for this example) it will also go to the wrong song exactly as it does via voice commands. However, if I pull out my phone and select waltzing Matilda on the phone itself, it plays fine. It's almost as though Sync has the files "crossed" or not properly indexed and so it thinks it's playing xxxx when it's really playing yyyy. I've looked all over but cannot seem to find a way to tell Sync to "re index" the phone, closest I can find is to do a master reset, loose my settings and start fresh. Of note, when playing it does say "Song 1 of 8000" so it defintely knows they are there in a recognizable format. Any ideas? I can do the reset if needed, but was hoping for a way to just have it scan the phone over and start fresh. Thanks!!! If I missed a post with someone else having the same problem please let me know! FordIVTteam
Hi Blastvalve, SYNC 3 has another reset that won't erase your settings. It's called a system reset: www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/SYNC-3-Supplement-version-2_sycsy_EN-US_10_2015.pdf The instructions are on page 113. Try this, and let me know how it goes. Shaay Edited December 13, 2016 by FordIVTteam
Blastvalve
Shaay, thanks for getting back to me! I did try the system reset last night a couple times, unfortunately it didn't fix the issue. (although good to know for future reference, thanks!) This morning I completed a master reset of the Sync system. Once everything rebooted I re-input my settings and then connected my phone. The system instantly began "Reindexing Device" and from the limited testing I performed on my ride in, everything appears back to normal. Thanks again! Although my 1st post, I've been using the forum for about a year or so when I started looking at an Edge last winter to replace a very troublesome Audi A4 (whole different story on that experience). This forum has a been a great source of info and I've been incredibly pleased with my Edge, which is my 1st Ford purchase.
FordIVTteam
You're welcome, Blastvalve. I'm glad that it's working again. I'll be here if anything else comes up. Happy Holidays! Shaay
Blastvalve
Quick check in, been a few days and I've had to make a couple short drives for work and this was listening to music from the phone. The full reset definitely seems to have fixed it. Probably low on the list, but if anyone from Ford is reading, adding a setting where we could force the reindexing of a music player without the reset would be nice. (I did notice it does reindex whenever the phone operating system updates such as with the IOS 10.2 update that rolled out this week after I did the reset, not sure if that would have fixed it on its own) Shaay, Happy Holidays to you as well, thanks again! Blastvalve
Quick update. Issue came back when I removed a bunch of xmas music from my library after the holidays were done, was able to again fix with a master reset. Updated system to sync 2.2 today and was very happy to see it has a feature to make Sync reindex device on command! Will post again if I run into the issue again and this new feature doesn't solve the issue.
