davidceder
2016 Sport I was wondering if anyone knows if the seat heater system is in anyway integrated into the climate control system? Whenever I remotely start the car and it runs for a bit it seems to me the drivers seat (havent checked the passenger seat) is warm. I mean warm as the seat heater is on, which it is not. It does not feel warm like the climate control temperature inside the car made it warm. It feels just the same as if the seat heater was on at some temperature. I am wondering if ANY heat is funneled to the seat when the climate system is heating the car? I live in the mountains of Arizona and although we dont get sub zero temps we do get them into the high 20s in the morning so the car would automatically warm on a remote start with the temp control in Auto. Any insight on this?
omar302
Yes, the seat heaters (and coolers, if equipped) do come on when remote starting the vehicle based on the ambient temperature.
davidceder
That's cool (or hot). Thanks
omar302
Check the owner's manual : http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?bookCode=O31263&languageCode=en&marketCode=US&viewTech=IE&chapterTitleSelected=G1676027&subTitleSelected=G1676045&topicHRef=G1547516&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=True
davidceder
Thanks Omar. Maybe I have read the manual too many times. Forgot that was there. Good feature.
Ray Heath Jr
If you have the heated steering wheel it warms automatically also. Works great on mine!
ben senise
I was wondering about this feature as well since my seat heating does not go on automatically when i start the car remotely. the user manual states: "In cold weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The heated seats are set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information display). The rear defroster and heated mirrors automatically turn on" What is the definition of "cold weather?" In my case, the temps are only a few degrees above freezing but the seat heating does not go on nor does the steering wheel heat or rear defroster or heated mirrors. I would have thought that 2 degrees C would qualify as "cold weather." I know I can set the preferences to use the last setting but that would mean that i would have to set everything before i shut down the car. Hardly automatic. omar302
ben, I believe cold weather means much colder than that, but, note that once you start the vehicle, the seats & defroster will turn off and there is no visual indication that they were turned on during remote start. Put that into consideration as many of us will think they did not turn on because of the lack of a visual indication.

I rarely use the remote start anyway since the car is in the garage. One thing that confused me when I used it the first few times is that after i get in the car, i put my foot on the brake to press the start button but then the engine shuts off. I have to press the start with no foot on the brake to get the car going. i haven't tried just taking it out of park though. it just doesn't seem very intuitive. i'll have to get used to it. akirby
That doesn't make any sense. Something is amiss. Is this the factory remote start or dealer installed or aftermarket? Edited January 30, 2017 by akirby
davidceder
I am the original poster. Akirby is correct, something is amiss. Also please note, I live in Arizona at 5000 ft. I know that even if the temps are in the low 30's my seat heater does indeed come on with factory installed remote start. It does not have to be MUCH colder than freezing. Ray Heath Jr
My experience is the 50F is the mark. If ambient is below 50, and I remote start the seat and steering wheel heat.

davidceder
Can anyone who has upgraded to the latest Sync 3 rev and is in a cold climate confirm or deny what "specialk4523 has experienced? (I am waiting for the OTA to be released). I love that my seat and wheel heat on remote start. It was about 50 degrees yesterday when I remote started and the seats and the wheel heated. I sure hope Ford did NOT code out this feature. I cannot understand why the would, but I don't understand many things they do. 2016 Sport Thanks
Ray Heath Jr
They did not code it out. I have 2.2. I was one of the first to go to 2.2, and my seat and steering wheel heated this morning as expected when I remote started. The Sync update, and that feature have nothing to do with each other. They are controlled by different modules. On the left hand screen, the setting your need to check is under Vehicle, Remote start, Seats and wheel. Set the setting to Auto. If it is already set. Set it to off, then back to Auto.
