Agima
While removing the first layer of snow of the year on my Ford Edge, I've noticed that my keypad was strangely loose. Looking more closely it seems that left side metal clip is gone. Might have fell in the door (or might have been broken and somewhat glued before I buyed the Edge from the previous owner). I would prefer to not buy another keypad since this one is working perfectly fine, so my question is how can I fix that? I am right to assume that the missing left part if the same as the right (some plastic holder with a metal clip)?I guess I could always use Marine Silicone to "glue" the keypad back (and have a good seal)? enigma-2
The part appears to be part of the keypad assembly. I didn't find it listed separately. As a new keypad is ~$100 it may be worth popping off the door panel and retreaving the part. http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2010&m=Ford&mo=Edge#Search
omar302
You can see this listing how a new one looks like. As you guessed, there is a metal clip on both sides. Since your Edge it is a 2011 I assume its Kona Blue, part number for the Kona Blue is BA1Z14A626AE Edited December 5, 2016 by omar302
Agima
Thanks! It was exactly what I was thinking (but didn't find picture of!).Since the keypad is working perfectly, I went the easy way and just put Marine silicone (that I already had anyway) to stick the keypad to the opening. So far it seem to be holding!
rwf78155
Take the panel off, find the clip that has been displaced, put some gorilla glue on it, let the glue dry, and pop it back into place !
Agima
Take the panel off, find the clip that has been displaced, put some gorilla glue on it, let the glue dry, and pop it back into place ! Very true. It is probably still in there. I will let winter (and the freezing cold here in Canada!) pass and I will check for it at the beginning of the spring season! PaulSchott
It looks like the plastic part that holds the metal clip is broken off. If it's already back on I would just leave it alone. There are replacements available on EBay from about $50 to $100. They didn't paint them on my 2007 and if you didn't paint yours no one will notice if it is black.
