Edge Sport Leather

Recommended Posts

Years ago, probably back in the 60's, there was a product that cleaned dryed on, blue/black ink out of a white shirt.

It was called Swipe. (I don't know if this is the same product or not: http://www.swipehomecare.com/.) Anyway, the way it worked was (I was told) it chemically reacted to the ink and turned it clear.

Can't vouch that this is the same as what I remember, but looks like it. Wouldn't hurt to try insmasmuch as your looking to replace the leather anyway.

Try http://www.colorbondpaint.com They have exact match spray dyes that have worked for me in refinishing my dash armrest and steering wheel. The match is invisible and you won't be spending hundreds for a new panel or seat cover. The stuff holds up like the original finish.

My steering wheel had to be wet sanded before it could be sprayed. some ware on this site are pictures of the finished work.

Perhaps a different dealer might offer better service. Why not contact these people and see what they can come up with.

Btw, have you tried finding one from a wrecked car? There's a search site online (used it years ago when looking for a blue, leather steering wheel for my Merc Sable. Turned out a yard somewhere in Southern Ohio had one like new.)

Don't have the url anymore, but it should pop up in a Google search.

Thanks enigma-2

Ive found quite a few wrecked and totaled 2013 Edge's.......but no 2013 Edge Sports !

I sent a message to Lakeland Ford to see if they can get me the leather two colored seat bottom.

I'm going to print that page and see if my local dealer can help if I take them the page......they told me they could'nt get it on my first trip to them for help.

Thanks Again...Happy THANKSgiving

I found a company called Classic Leather Dye classicleatherdye.com and they shipped me the exact color dye for my vehicle.

They mix the dye to provide an exact match.

I put it on and its a absolute perfect match and covered perfectly.

I re-dyed that part of the seat twice

Treated it with Lexol last night and it looks like brand new leather.
