cwagon8
Hello Everyone, I have a 2010 Edge Limited that came equipped with the backup sensors in the bumper but no camera. I have the full navigation, SYNC, Sat radio, etc. Does anyone know if the unit is plug-n-play for a stock backup camera? If it's possible I'd like to just buy one and go, and not worry about paying Ford a crazy amount of money to do it. Thanks!
omar302
As far as I know, the 2010 did not offer a backup camera. It was offered starting with the 2011 refresh.
enigma-2
It can be added, but it's not plug and play. You would have to physically mount the camera (they make ones that mount over the license plate) and then run the wires to the back of the ACM. If you have navigation it will plug into the back of the radio (they make a modified harness that accepts a RCA plug from the camera.) You will also need to have your dealer turn it on, or use your cell phone or laptop to turn it on. To do it yourself, you'll need a wireless adapter and software. If you don't have Navigation, you could change the mirror to one with a LCD screen built in. The power for the camera can be wired directly to the backup light wiring.
omar302
Just found this thread, though it is very old, but might still be helpful.
enigma-2
That used a interface that allows the screen to be used for dvd while in motion. It also allows the camera to be turned on while driving, as well as adding an additional front-facing camera. Costs a bunch as well. However, it's NOT needed just to add a backup camera. If you have navigation, the camera video feed just plugs into the back ACM. The rest of the thread has a lot of great information on how he added a camera. cwagon8
Thanks everyone for the input! I've seen the after market adapters that take the cost way up, although pretty cool. I'll just find an aftermarket camera and run the wire to the ACM. Thanks Enigma-
richy
If the dealer isn't helping you b/c it did not act up for them, I'd video it on your phone when it happens so you have proof.
Knuff
I also have a 2010 Edge limited that has the nav screen. Installed a camera that works (Tested with a separate monitor) but we can't get the system to turn on the function. Dealer said no, can't, won.t, no...... I'm pretty sure that it is possible. Have the video interface that goes directly into the nav unit. Thru forscan, I changed what I thought would be the change (APIM 7D01-01 X*XX-XXX-XXX Changed the astrix to a 2, and an a. Both did nothing. Please help.....
TheWizard
Wow, five posts and all are exactly the same in different threads... were you afraid that nobody would see the first four? Google is your friend. There are a coupe of options available online to add rear view camera display to the factory hard drive based navigation system in 2009-2010 Edge models (doesn't apply to earlier Edge models in the other threads you found). One is a simple $40 harness adapter that requires OBD programming to activate. Unfortunately, the company doesn't tell you what programming changes need to be made because they want to sell you their $200 custom programming device. https://www.infotainment.com/products/sync1-radio-camera-interface and https://navrepair.com/collections/obd-genie-custom-programmers/products/ford-lincoln-rear-view-camera-programmer-f-rvc Another is a more sophisticated (and more expensive of course) module you can add which provides backup camera input along with front and side camera input and various other video capabilities. http://www.navtool.com/2009-2010-ford-edge-video-interface.aspx And then there is the LockPick device from Coastal Electronics. I have used that one on my Mustang to enable navigation input while moving (there should be no reason why I would have to pull over and stop to search for a restaurant or gas station when my passenger is quite capable of doing so while I'm driving). It also adds four camera inputs which can be activated automatically (backup camera in reverse, side cameras with turn signal) or manually using the steering wheel controls. http://www.coastaletech.com/synclockpick.htm

I was googling everything I could find but I never came across which PID codes to change in order to activate the rear camera function on the nav screen. I have the " As Built" codes and that is no help. I Was hoping someone on the forums might know since i'm not the only one that doesn't want to pay the dealership the money. My local dealership also said they wouldn't touch it anyway. As far as the multiple posts, I was trying to get it activated before my daughter took off to collage. Didn't mean to spin anyone up. Just trying to get it done.
