ATLJeff
Hey all, glad to find the forums! I've got a 2011 Edge, and as much as I've wanted to love it, I've run into issues I've never encountered with any previous car. This is a roughly five-year-old car, and within those five years I've already had most of the electronics fail: The side sensors have failed and needed replacement. The front sensor, and all of the cruise-control functions associated with it, has failed and needed replacement. One of the rear backup sensors has failed and needed replacement. The main cabin panel, controlling the audio, menus, and climate control, has needed complete replacement. Last month, the back-up camera itself failed. This has been five years of intermittent system failure, notwithstanding all of the design flaws in the onboard Microsoft Sync system, probably well-documented somewhere within the forums here. Other than to vent my bewildered frustration with this five-year-old car, I'm also here to find out if others have had such a conspicuously poor experience with the Ford Edge. The basic drive train and brakes have been reliable enough, and the electrical system itself has held up (again, this is not an old car by any means). I realized the Sync system was crazy-bad from the first weeks I owned the car. But when the electronic features began to fail outright, again and again, I've given up loving and defending the car. Anyone else?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Welcome, Jeff. I am sure a lot of the problems stemmed from your Edge being a first year refresh. Did you have to pay for any of these repairs out of pocket? That would be expensive.
boblamee
Just bought a used 2011 Ford Edge with 51 k. Not bad for 5 year old car. The issue we are having is the backup camera. 3 out 4 time is works, then the failure in communication link. The local ford dealer wants $460 plus labor to replace the camera. I think that is way out of line for a backup camera. ANY HELP on this matter. Thank Bob L.
enigma-2
Oem cameras are selling for $340-$360 on Ebay. Don't think that it would be too difficult to replace.
fishx65
Makes me kinda glad my 2011 SEL doesn't have MFT!!! Just getting ready to hit 80,000 miles and she's only been back to the dealership twice. Once for a new front emblem and just about a month ago for the throttle body recall. I also had the EVAP Purge valve go bad which I replaced myself in about 5 minutes. Edited December 1, 2016 by fishx65
