haedgy
Bought a 2016 Ford Edge Titanium Ecoboost Tricolor White, with Ceramic interior. Really like this car. Handles nice, smooth ride and acceleration. So far so good. Do have the strange rattle in the center console I have heard about in the form and the B-Pillar wind noise (but only going 75 MPH or higher!). All in all it's a solid car. I have been renting Edge's for the past 5 years whenever I take a long road trip with the family. I have been wanting one ever since the first day of driving it. I opted to go with the ecoboost because I hear that slight chance the waterpump will blow up and I will need to spend 7k for a new one! Anyway I test drove both just to make sure the power was about equal. IMO the ecoboost actually climbed the hills better than the V-6. For me the acceleration is smooth, gets me on the freeway with enough power and then some. My brother in law rode in it and could not believe it was a 4 cylinder! I don't either I just hope the power stays. I use either mid-grade or premium fuel but have only filled it up 3 times since I got it. I do notice the power curve seems better with the premium though so when I am ready for that long trip it's premium all the way! I already put a bud deflector, and cargo mat and cover, I have Maxliner mats coming, and have the Dawn bumper guard that I am putting on the rear bumper. Thinking about mud guards but not 100% sold on them yet. Do like the cleaner lines and look without them. Not sure I like the square look of the OEM ones. Saw some on Ebay but not sure how they would fit. they are only 25 bucks so I might take a chance to see if the are ugly then off they go. Enjoy reading all the posts even before purchase it gives me an idea of what to look for.

junehhan
Congrats! The 2.0 Ecoboost climbs hills better because Ford designs most of their Ecoboosts to be very strong low and mid range motors. This means that while the duratec might be faster on paper, the 2.0 will feel much stronger and will be much easier to drive. The Duratec 3.5 while a good motor, is a naturally aspirated motor which produces peak power higher in the rpms. The only disadvantage is that the ecoboosts are GTDI motors which means that carbon buildup may become an issue on the back side of the intake valves at higher mileage. However you can postpone that to some extent by doing things like doing oil changes with a premium full synthetic like Mobil 1 extended performance and driving like a granny. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Some WOT romps are good for the Ecoboost engines. It will keep the carboning issue down. Also a yearly program of GDI induction services, as these have gotten better and more effective. Good finishing touch.
