Tjm623
'16 edge here: Is anyone else having a mildew smell from the vents when using the vents only?? I'd say it's mainly after using the A/C and shutting it off while driving. I don't leave A/C on when car is parked or off. It is a terrible stench though. Smelled it again with the heat on. Again only with vents, not when air is recirculated and not when A/C is on.
gjb89
Put the ac on low and set the fan to the highest speed and turn the recirculating off, then spray Lysol in the intake vents for the AC. It will knock it out real quick!
Tjm623
Yea I'll have to try this. Not sure why a brand new car that wasn't on the lot very long stinks this bad. I checked the intakes on cowl for old leaves and stuff and nothing.
tloewenberg
Possibility, it could be mold? In any event, as a 2016, I would definitely make it the dealer's problem before trying my own fixes.
Tjm623
I'm coming to terms with my dealer sucks, anything besides "the works" is like asking to pull teeth always excuses and they need the car for overnight. If it happens next time I'm contacting my sales guy and telling him they are losing two new vehicle maintenance schedules because service people suck. He's helped before if not, I'll find a different dealer to use. Wife's escape had a wind leak on door. 9 am Saturday appointment where I had said it needed that plus a recall. They claimed they wouldn't have time. I've been there when it's busy there were no cars in the garage. Said it would take 7 hours and they didn't have the time...bring it back during the week. Vehicle has 3k miles shouldn't be there to begin with but do to recall it was I'm not bringing it back AGAIN and I'm not leaving work early to do so. Needless to say wouldn't back down and they finally agreed only to tell me it's normal (it's not) and nothing is wrong. Service departments drive me nuts
akirby
I have a great salesman at our neighborhood Ford/Lincoln dealer. Great guy, knows I have X plan so basically I just tell him what I want and he gets it. Took our 14 escape in to fix the steering wheel audio controls and a bad moonroof motor. This was on a Monday. Said they had to order moonroof motor. Friday the parts still weren't in so they gave us a loaner RAV4 (yippee). It took them another week to get it fixed. I picked it up and noticed right away that they installed the wrong button on the steering wheel - AND it still didn't work. They didn't even test it after having it for 2 weeks. I called the owner and left him a message. They came to the house, picked it up, left a loaner and brought it back the next day working with the right button. We bought our MKX from another dealership. I can accept an honest mistake but not sheer incompetence.
Tjm623
I agree, just seems like this place doesn't want to be bothered with anything besides oil changes and tire rotations. Seems they missed the memo that they aren't jiffy lube. I'll give them one more chance, but if it happens with my vehicle as I said I am going to call my salesman(same relationship as you have with yours) pointing out what's happened the last 4 times I've came in, as well as politely telling service manager how little they will do without moaning and groaning. It's to the point I delay having to take my vehicle in because they make it such a pain every time. Don't even get me started on how I have to call and check up because they forget to tell me when it's ready. Or how their online appointment scheduler always is "down" and I never seem to have my appointment saved. Beyond frustrating
