Tinted tail lights

I was trying to say it nicely, but that was my point. I've seen cars with dark tinted tails where you literally could not see the brake lights in the daytime and barely see them at night

Also the picture looks like it may have been taken with alot of overcast so who knows. Im curious if he used VHT or a film.

Actually light output was not lost. You can see very clear in the day n night.. They used a film.

There has to be some loss of light output unless you added more bulbs or switched to brighter bulbs. It may not be significant if the OEM lights are bright enough to start with.

Everyone freaks out about tinting lights, and i's obvious it can be taken too far- but Ford went from a clear headlight to a tinted headlight on the 99-04 Mustangs. Same lamp, same housing, but they used a tinted lens. If it's a reasonable amount of tint, it really makes no noticeable difference with the lights on.

True but so many people go overboard and you can't see the damn brake lights in the daytime.

Also - when the factory does it they must pass DOT tests for visibility so they know for sure they're ok. When you DIY you don't typically have those measurements.
