PaulSchott
According to an article on Yahoo NHTSA is starting a probe into 380,000 2011-2013 Ford Edge SUVs for faulty door ajar warning lights which will not allow you to know if your door is properly latched. NHTSA has received 1560 reports about the problem. It's about time. I love my 2007 and just had to take apart the hatch latch to fix the micro switch. (the opposite problem, the lights didn't come on and the warning didn't work.) The lack of lighting was annoying but I wouldn't have noticed the warning light not coming on.
lowlevel
Driver side door latch on my 2013 Edge failed at around 30,000km... First time they just cleaned it and it lasted until just outside of warranty. I had to pay $600 to get the whole latch/sensor assembly replaced later.
PaulSchott
If they issue a recall they may have to reimburse everyone who had it fixed. Good luck!
