climberd
Looks like this is where people are posting their installs and feedback... Girlfriend has 2010 Ford Edge SEL, so 4x 6x8" paper speakers, no component tweeters, stock Sync headunit. Was settled on the Infinity Reference 6832cf http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Reference-6832cf-Performance-Loudspeaker/dp/B002CMUKZY They have high sensitivity, relatively low RMS spec for this level of speaker, and are durable over time (what made me pick these over Polk, among other details). Then looked into Infinity's parent company, Harman, which also makes JBL. JBL speakers are very similar (same features, instructions), but cost a little more per tier, and reviews make them sound like they are better at bass / less tweeter-heavy than the Infinity version. This is what my girlfriend wanted. So I switched the order to JBL GTO8628. http://www.amazon.com/JBL-GTO8628-6-Inch-8-Inch-Loudspeaker/dp/B003G6H558/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1356666629&sr=1-1&keywords=jbl+6x8 Install was very easy, used cheap Ford wire harness adapters (Amazon), the thin stick-on foam surround strip included with the JBL speakers, and plumbers putty to fill the speaker wire slot. Fronts installed only, for time being. Broke in the speakers for an hour, and already they sounds a lot better than stock. Highs are much more precise, clear, and not harsh. Bass is good. On flat EQ, bass can be felt at your feet and in the door panel handle. If you crank up bass to max (just for fun) it really vibrates the outer door panel. I may sound deaden the doors later, did not have time today. Overall I would buy this exact set of speakers again (for the rears).
